Inexpensive reliable voltage booster solution for Go Kits  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Solves the problem of reduced RF output as a lead acid battery discharges. The XW-12-13.8-138W is a rugged module which will hold the output voltage of your field battery to 13.8VDC as the battery discharges. I paid ~ $20 on eBay for mine. Contained as a potted circuit in an aluminum heatsink case 3"x3"x2". I use mine as part of an ammo case battery pack for field and QRP operation boosting the output of a 10AH AGM cell. Seems to loaf at currents up to 8 amps. Quiescent draw is < 100 ma. As battery discharges to ~ 10VDC, output holds at 13.8VDC. I have heard no RFI generated by it on 40M, 30M, or 20M. Built to ISO9001 standards for an automobile application. Good for QRO and low power transceivers. Not recommended op above 25W RF CW.
