Stereo speaker find new life in amateur radio!  Time owned: more than 12 months
After a friend of mine was done with college in the early 1990's, he gave me his Nova-15's. Right away I've found them to be a perfect pair of speakers for an apartment. I later put them in storage for a dozen years and got them out to try them on a Kenwood TS-2000(X) transceiver. Wow!!! Nice natural AM and SSB audio from those operators with great bassy quality transmit audio. AM ops come alive on 3885kHz and 7295kHz AM. General shortwave radio listening is a pleasure with this speaker as well. Then, I added the 2nd speaker to my brother-in-law's Icom IC-735 transceiver. To my surprise, AM quality was amazing with this speaker! One problem with the 8" foam surround woofers is that they do deteriorate. Buy the 8" rubber surround replacement kit for these for $22.00, as it is well worth it. I believe that the bass response is even better! If you should see a Nova-15 for sale and you have a good shortwave receiver, or transceiver, these speakers should make the audio just come alive from that rig. There are really good products that Radio Shack did have at times, and the Nova-15's are one of them.
