As good as...  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I have owned two MFJ analyzers, 259 & 259B. Both are very drifty and unreliable, and both have failed.
I bought an MR300 to replace the MFJ analyzers.
I purchased a “refurbished” unit at $67 shipped from China.
It is basically a DDS operated by software. It uses EA4FRB developed software.
Very little info can be found on it. I suspect there are US patents that prevent these from being widely sold in the US.
I tested mine, and it indicated the same readings as the MFJs. It is far more stable than the MFJ.
The MR300 has wider range of impedance measuring, 5-2000 ohms. My unit has no internal battery provisions, and uses 12vdc external input.
There are no manuals that I can find. Only a cryptic sheet of paper came with the unit, making a vague reference to a file in the USB connection.
This unit works well on a small Lipo battery pack I connected to it. Due to the low current draw, it would run for many days on this one battery.
Hand held with a small battery, makes it easy to take up a tower for analysis at the feed point. Unlike bulky models.
It’s a very handy tool for HF antenna work, or tuning a tuner.
