No Problems Here

I have the Rascal GLX interface. I use it for PSK and SSTV. It works great! I am using it now with a laptop and a USB-Serial adapter. Don't buy a cheap USB-Serial adapter from ebay, go to Best Buy and spend the $36 and save some time and headache. I have also ordered a cable for my second rig, the IC-703 and it also worked flawlessly. I did have an issue with the second cable, but it was my error, I plugged it in upside-down. I emailed the tech support and had an answer by the next morning, but I had already figured out my goof-up. Buxcomm is the authority on pre-made cables.

Good product & service

I have a couple of these interfaces and they have worked well right out of the box. I mainly use them for mobile/portable work and they have withstood travel, multiple mechanical connect & disconnect cycles, and a range of temperature / humidity conditions. All orders have been packed well and shipped quickly, usually the same day. Good value and service. Repeat customer.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones, but every thing i have purchaced from Buxcom has worked with no problem. I have the white soap dish Rascal with both cables for a 706, cable for 6 pin min DIN, a cable for Icom portables, and cables for KPC3+ and all have worked. I have also bought the 2m/70cm base antenna and the 6m base antenna, and connectors and other misc itmes with no problems. Of course I read and keep all instructions for later reference. Buxcom ships fast and have no problems what so ever with this company. Just thought I would give my 2-bits worth.

Your lucky if it works.

If you order it and it works ok, you are very lucky.
Unfortunately most of us are not this lucky. I called them up and purchased the Rascal and it did not work. Next I figured it was the cable so I spent an additional $14 on another cable that fixed some problems but not others.
After getting chewwed out by "tech support" (an oxymoron at their company) I told them that I wanted my money back and they did not want me to give me my money back.
After this distastefull experience I purchased a Rigblaster Plus.
At a little more cost, When I had a defective product the first time, they did not blow me off and tell me that I was stupid, They Complemented me on my knowledge and announced that the would be sending me a replacement rigblaster free of charge. They were very pleasent to work with and not much of the your stupid garbage that I got from the Buxcom people.

Quick and Easy Kit
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months

Bought my Rascal kit and it arrived in 3 days. Very Easy Kit to build. Manual describing the Radio to Computer hook-up leaves much to be desired though. For the Price, I feel you can't go wrong with what you get for your money.

Easy to set up
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

The Rascal GLX arrived and in a couple of hours had it up and running.
Needed to add a switch as the DTR line is used (In my shack) for either PTT or CW.
When I removed the cover I noticed how well built it is, even has a retaining clip for the DB-9 and sound card cables.

Think Twice

I bought the Rascal GLX Mk V and interface cable to use with my Kenwood TS-570D.
It’s a no brainier plug and play unit for a reasonable price. The only problem is it didn’t work.
I’ve been using the previous kit version of the Rascal for five years W/O a problem.
I know how to set the PC, sound card & radio. I e-mailed “TECH SUPPORT” and got a poor response.
So, I sent it back for evaluation. When I got it back it still didn’t work.
NO AUDIO to the sound card.
I checked the 5 Pin to 13 Pin DIN connections and quickly realized the problem.
The interface cable they sent was either defective or the wrong cable for my application.
I made my own cable and everything worked fine. I sent the cable back with a full explanation.
After getting no response I called and was told nothing was wrong and the item was returned to stock!!
That’s it. I E-Mailed my dissatisfaction and got a scathing, scolding, chastising reply filled with profanity.
All I wanted was the right cable. God help the person who gets my old one.
Bux Com will not get any more of my bucks.

Works perfect with 1c7000

Never was into digital modes, but decided that when I picked up my new 7000 I would try it. I called buxcom they were very helpful. Told them what I had
they told me what I needed. Rascal came 2 days later. In 15 minutes, I had 2 contacts in Europe on psk31. Everything included for 39.95 hard to beat!!!

This thing is gold!
If you sat down and worked out the cost of the components, case, leads , plugs and the time taken to put one together I bet you can't't do it for less. The unit is outstanding value for money.
Ordering , emails and shipping were completely hassle free and the supplied CD (although a little cheesy and out of date) - is a handy reference guide for connecting just about anything to anything.
Hats of to Buck for putting the Ham back into Ham Radio!
Anyone who complains about what they get for the price they pay is a whiney tightwad! And if you can't work out how to hook one of these up to your rig then you should hand in your licence! Especially if you order the wrong cable!

Great buy

I've been using my Rascal for about 2 years now, and it's always performed flawlessly with my 706Mk2G. I got the 13-pin ACC cable, and run FSK for RTTY a lot. I've also done some PSK31, and even copied a little SSTV with this little unit.
