Excellent technical publication  Time owned: more than 12 months
Definitely for the more technically oriented ham! You need a good understanding of radio technology to keep up with the writers.

This magazine was originally a digest of translated articles from the German publication Ultra Kurtz Weil (UKW) Berichte which has always had very high quality articles. The new owners have also commissioned a few articels exclusively for this magazine. The translation is usually excellent, although the circuit schematics are left in German.

The German expression "UKW" refers to VHF, UHF and microwaves and this is the main interest of the writers. Every issue has at least one very high quality constructional article and often some good technical writing. This makes a nice change from the average home brew article found in ham magazines which are usually yet another QRP CW transmitter for HF.

There is a PCB or kit parts service for readers. The Internet Treasure Trove section contains large numbers of interwsting URLs for technical information and free engineering software.

If you are a serious experimenter this is the journal for you.
