ISOTERM MULTICON/CW/FSK
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
I was looking for a quality serial interface to give me FSK RTTY, PSK31 and DVK SSB capability. After exchanging a couple of emails with Johnny, G3LIV, we agreed I needed an ISOTERM MULTICON/CW/FSK. Johnny got my new interface ready in a couple of days so that by the time he received my payment it was ready to mail. He mailed it on Thursday and I received it on Monday (from England to New York). It took me a couple of minutes to set up and it worked perfectly right out of the box. It gives me FSK RTTY, PSK31 (or any other digital mode) and DVK SSB. I use a serial WinKey for CW and serial transceiver CAT. Now, using just 3 serial ports I am complete free of USB devices and drivers. Here is an unsolicited excerpt of my first QSO in FSK RTTY using this interface:
RYRY W2NRA DE ??1??
RGR SOLID COPY, YOU HAVE A GREAT SOUNDING STATION ARTHUR..
About the MULTICON/CW/FSK: This is a similar product to his CW version, but it has FSK RTTY capability instead of CW. I received the first one of these units. It has a fixed cable with a DB9 connector and 2 1/8th inch stereo connectors to plug into your computer’s comport and soundcard. Johnny made up a cable (included in the price) for me that plugs into my Ten-Tec Omni VII’s 5 pin Din accessory connector. The other end connects to the back of the ISOTERM MULTICON/CW/FSK interface. On the front are 2 knobs to fine tune the audio going between your rig and the computer’s soundcard, after making the basic audio adjustments in your soundcard's software. The “audio-in” knob on the left has a green stripe on it. It also has a green led that lights when in receive mode. You adjust this knob for the receive audio coming from your rig to your computer. The “audio-out” knob on the right has a red stripe. It has a red led that lights when in the transmit mode. You adjust this knob for level of drive you want from the computer to your rig.
For the record I am using Johnny’s interface to replace a well known USB interface costing more than three times as much. I really like this product and I’m free of USB devices!!! G3LIV’s MULTICON/CW/FSK does everything I want it to do.
Thank you, Johnny, 73 de Art W2NRA

I've been using one of Johnnys interfaces for around 5 years now, and needing another, primarily for /P working had no reservations about ordering an Isoterm Multicon Mk2, as I needed the dual rig functionality.
As the advert shown on TV over here says [with apologies to varnish] "It does what it says on the tin".
It took me longer to break into Johnnys magnificent packaging than to get the box hooked up twixt Rig & Laptop and have the first QSO.
Magnificent product, Wonderful service [Johnny even telephoned me to clarify a point re one of the cable sets] and a pleasure to do business with.

Excellent Product & Service

I bought the Isoterm Multicon - USB from G3LIV. It arrived beautifully packaged the following day. My rig is the FT1000MP Mk5 Field and my laptop is a 3 year old Dell D600. I connected the leads and installed the USB driver as supplied by G3LIV and I was soon receiving and transmitting PSK31, RTTY and SSTV.
I cannot praise this excellent product enough and I would recommend it to anyone contemplating data modes.....Jim G3KAF

An easy 10 out of 5 !

I purchased this due to many great reviews. I contacted Johnny and within a few hours had an email back with helpful information as to what I need.
My interface arrived a few days later. Everything was beautifully packaged, labeled, instructions, driver CD and software to get you started.
I was making PSK31 QSO's within 10 minutes of receiving the interface. This equipment is not your typical "Home Brew" project. You can feel the quality and care put into this interface as soon as you touch it. Wiring and connectors are top notch. If only MFJ could learn something from this man.
The icing on the cake is the service Johnny provides, any emails I've sent are answered within a few hours, I would be happy within a few days but so much the better.
Finally the interface is simple, effective and has everything you need and nothing you don't. Even at the poor Dollar to Pound exchange rate, the price is more then reasonable as you will not find an interface of this quality not to mention the service at this price point.
If you are looking to get digital... you can order from this ham with confidence.

Ordered Isoterm Multicon CW interface for my TS850 and FT847 PSK31 on 6/06/07
received it on 8/06/07. I had a question about the the lead for the FT847 and
emailed Johnny late Sunday night for him to read on Monday morning. He
replied at 23:35 Sunday night after attending a rally!
Build quality is excellent, leads and interface function perfectly on
my Linux system in all modes. Service and goods can only be considered perfection.

I had the Isoterm Multicom - USB. What a great item , well presented, loaded usb driver and Digipan and it worked straight away, no messing, as usual I read instructions after it was working just to check ..lol. It came recommended to me and the positive comments were certainly justified.

A really well engineered piece of kit, sturdy RF tight box, good instructions, all the cables required and a great guy on the end of the phone if you get stuck...
You can't ask for more, and much cheaper than the Rigblaster!!!

ISOTERM MULTICON MK2 A GREAT PIECE OF KIT
|
Time owned: 6 to 12 months

IVE BEEN USING THIS INTERFACE FOR A FEW MONTHS AND I HAVE FOUND IT TO BE A GREAT PICE OF KIT. THERES NOT A LOT I CAN SAY BUT IF YOU ARE THINKING OF GETTING INTO DATA MODES THEN THIS REALLY IS FOR YOU. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. AS WELL AS WORKING PSK 31 I HAVE ALSO BEEN WORKING RTTY. I HAVE WORKED MOST OF EUROPE ON THIS ON VERY LOW POWER. I WOULD SAY ITS THE BEST PIECE OF EQUIPMENT I HAVE USED IN A WHILE ...AND THE PRICE WAS GREAT TO.
