Best 2m HT Ever!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have owned this radio for just over 5 years now, and I love it. It has all the bells and whistles a monoband 2 meter HT could possibly have.. and it's very durable, I have dropped it.. left it outside in the rain and found it in a puddle, and it just keeps going!

The only complaint I have is that the PTT button is getting a little noisy, but I got my money out of it so I can't complain. When the button gets noisy I just talk on it for a little bit, and after a few keys it seems to clear right up.

Oh, and unlike the FT-50R the tuner knob on this radio works the way it's supposed to. To bad this radio has been discontinued.

Good Overall  Time owned: more than 12 months
Great radio that works well, have had one 5 years.
Things I don't like are, the printing on the front near the buttons seem to be wearing off.
You have to have a battery connected to charge it.
(the plug for the charger is on the radio and not the battery. Works good however, if you have to replace the battery go with the MAHA aftermarket
replacement, it has 200 mh more capacity and the
belt clip attatched to it is massive, all for
10-15 percent less .

Low Contrast Display  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
No complaints except that the display on mine is very low contrast with no apparent adjustment. The keystroke colors and patterns for setup & memories are indeed odd. Would have really liked the aviation band.

very nice  Time owned: more than 12 months
I've got one of these too. It works great, both on transmit and receive. It doesn't have general coverage, and it is just a bit of a pain to load the memories using keystrokes. However, it does everything a HT radio can be expected to do on 2 meters, and I have had no problems with it at all.

Nice little HT  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I would have to say that the fact that I bought this radio brand new in the box for $100 from a ham in OK makes it a very good deal for me, unfortunately I have the FT10R-A16 which does not have all the bells and whistles, but still I think this would make a very nice beginners HT if you only work VHF you cant go wrong with this radio.

Okay monoband HT  Time owned: more than 12 months
This radio is a decent radio for any amateur. It has CTCSS, DCS, ARTS and many other functions. Unfortunately, Yaesu made this one out to be more durable than what it really is. We have dropped it several times either breaking the battery or jamming it.
