Reviews Summary for RT Systems Windows Cloning Software for the Icom IC-W32A
Reviews: 5 Average rating: 3.4/5 MSRP: $US$39.30 + shipping
Description: This is a cloning software which comes with a cloning jack and a 9-pin serial adapter which plugs into your COM 1 or COM 2 port. It is very easy to use and you can turn on some extra functions in the transmitter such as the extended RX range of 300 and 800 mhz., memory name, auto repeater, auto off options, auto repeater options, battery saver options (for those in the review who complained about the W32A eatging too much power), and lots of other useful features. Moreover, you can have as many settings saved on your computer. You can use any of the settings by recalling the file and exporting it to your radio. It has a comprehensive help file to guide you along through all of it's features. It comes with a diskette of the program, a short literature and cloning cable for the ICOM IC-T2A, IC-T7A, IC-W32A, IC-T8A, and the new IC-T81.
Product is in production.

no problems programming  Time owned: more than 12 months
I bought the RT Systems software for my IC-W32 and a USB to Serial cable. Uploaded the existing memories and then down loaded new memories for vacatin route no problem. Worked like a charm. Only complaint was having to enter all repeaters into software database manually. Could not figure out how to load from ARRL Travel plus software. I had heared this was possible. Need beeter instructions for this. Otherwise would be a 5.

Works fine for Me  Time owned: more than 12 months
Wanting to take full advantage of the IC-W32A memories and wideband RX capability I bought the RT Systems program. Using windows XP home it worked fine for me. My radio programmed very easily to include my vhf/uhf repeater channels, air band and marine band channels plus misc stuff.

Absolutely no problems and it was easy to use. I also use RT Systems software on my Icom Q7A and Yaesu FT7800 where it works fine too.

Buggy At Best  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Trying to set a call channel through the program in windows XP crashes it. Beyond that it seems to work. The help files are decidedly lacking for those new to HAM radio.

Does not As Claimed  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This software is buggy. It does not work uniformally on platforms as claimed. For example it will not work on several Windows 3.1 machines. It does work on a Windows Me and on a Windows 2000.

The technical and the sales support are non-existant. Call the number on the days and hours indicated that they are in you get a recording and then it hangs up on you. No replies by email either. Even when you give them the serial number. AND, you can not back the software up.

Buyer beware. Non-consistant operation and not even the decency to return an email. Whats up with this junk? Someone tell HRO to stop selling it.......

User-friendly Cloning Software  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
It is a very simple program to use because it is windows based. It has a complete help menu which summarizes the functions. It extends the capabilities of your particular Icom radio model such as entering alphanumeric labels for saved frequencies that can only be possible through the "Programmer". Easy check box selections for other functions. Save the parameters that you created in a file for future use (safeguard against accidental resets). Since you can program different frequencies with memories for different areas, it makes it particularly helpful for travellers who pass different areas with a different set of frequencies. Think of how powerful it can be with a laptop. I had to pay an extra $12 for delivery in the Philippines but I do not regret it at all in ordering this software package. You won't regret it either.
