Don't bother  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Called them to ask about having two TS-130S transceivers tuned up. No repairs were needed, just a tune up. The woman that answered the phone said they don't support them anymore. I told her it was just for tune up and she said they don't work on them in any capacity. Fortunately I got these two radios for nothing and they do work fine but I wanted to give one to my nephew who is just starting out in ham radio and I thought it would be nice to give him one in top operating condition. Too bad the radios weren't Icom. I sent a 25 year old radio to Icom in WA for repair last month and it was repaired and back to me in less than three weeks at a very reasonable cost. I would never buy a Kenwood radio after this experience. Apparently they want you to buy a new radio instead of doing any kind of service on older models even if it's just a tune up. Rating is based upon lack of service.

Exceptional Service  Time owned: more than 12 months
I shipped off a Kenwood TS-480SAT. The item was received, repaired and returned within two weeks! I chose e-mail to do all my communications. They were courteous, professional and precise. They kept me informed and the price was reasonable. Highly recommended!

Repaired in a week-  Time owned: more than 12 months
I sent my Kenwood TM-D700a to Kenwood East for repair. It was received by them on 9/30, repaired by 10/6, and on my door 10/8. Supersonic. My rig was running APRS unattended. I found it off and unresponsive to power-on. The total was $50 in labor (unbox, inspect, read customer problem, dis-assy, hook up, diag, re-assy, test, re-box). Replacement part was another $6 bucks. I find this to be very reasonable and I would recommend this facility for your Kenwood repair. 73, NW2M

Good experience always  Time owned: more than 12 months
Sent a TS-850 to them to repair fairly significant lightening damage. Was fixed quickly and cheaply. Have used them a few times before over a period of many years

Great Service  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Kenwood East has a pretty good setup. You send in your radio with pertinent information, especially what you want done, and they do it and send it back promptly. They set a $150 cap that they won't surpass without contacting you first. Otherwise, you don't hear from them until your radio arrives repaired. Nice system.

Update on previous review  Time owned: months
Much better service this time. I am giving them a 4 because I did have to send the rig back to them after the initial repair for problems that came due to the repair. However, this time around exemplary service. I sent it to them at New Years and I got it back fully operational today the 18th of Jan. This includes back ordering parts.

They notified me that parts were on order and then notified me when they shipped my rig. Last time no communication from anyone.

So kudos Kenwood Svc Ctr East much better job this time!

Great work-convenient  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Sent my Tokyo Hi-Power HL-1.5Kfx to be upgraded in
order to work with the HC-1.5Kat autotuner.

When I received the Amp back (7days round trip!) what I got was basically a new Amp at no cost to me!

Am I a happy camper? You bet! With Kenwood East and
HRO support I' glad I went with Tokyo Hi-Power!

Great service. Almost too good!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I had a TM-V7 fail somewhat spectacularly, and sent it off to be repaired. Total repair costs were $85, and turn around time was less than a week. First class!

My only "complaint" would be that despite my including my phone number and e-mail address, they repaired it and sent it back, COD, without any contact. Due to an unexpected trip, it almost arrived with no one to pay for it.

I should have specifically instructed that they contact me for repair authorization when they had the estimate, and to give them a credit card number. However, in literally decades of dealing with ham dealers and repair, I have never had this happen. Lesson learned!

Kenwood Th-D7a  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
One month ago, I sent my Kenwood th-d7a (2 months old) to be repaired for no audio from speaker. The service was fast and it was returned with NO CHARGE (warranty) in less than 1 week.

After using the radio 3 or 4 times for Sat contacts.. the audio abruptly quit when the squelch was open. I was shocked at first, the audio never resumed. Now its back to kenwood. Hopefully things will work out. However right now I only give them a 3 since the problem re-occured. If anyone else has had this problem let me know. Thank you. (I will follow this review up)
