Okay If It's All You Have

Time owned: more than 12 months

Easy to use.
Well built.
Record audio (receive) is fine for casual playback.
Over the air audio sucks.
Used in contests before with my FT-1000D. If that is all I had, I'd still use it. It has utility.

Good for RX, fair for TX

Used this unit together with my FT-990 over 8 years and I used it often to record pile-ups or qsl-information etc. For this purpose its really fine, but on the other side the transmitted audio is not good at all. Better go for a cheaper solution for recording and a decent one like a real good voice keyer for transmitting...

Marginal At Best

I own two of these devices for my SO2R station. It does work and setting the device up is fairly intuitive, but the audio it produces is horrible.
I have used multiple mic's to record in an attempt to correct the problem, but no improvment to date. While working SS SSB this year I had multiple complaints on the audio, and I knew it was bad becuase I could hear it through the monitor.
When I switched back over to live operation, the differnce was very obvious. I would recommend this item for the contester/DX'er, but wish some more thought went into the design to improve the audio quality to somthing exceptable.

Saved the day
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
The Yaesu DVS-2 Digital Recorder has saved the
day many a time at the KH7R contest station in
Hawaii. Although we use K1EA DVP units installed
in the desktop computers as voice keyers, on
many occasions we have had to switch to the DVS-2
units left plugged into the Yaesu FT-1000mp's
when computer problems arose.

Great Digital Recorder
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
The is truly a great accessory for the FT-1000 Mark V. It helps to save the voice during contests. The digital recorder worked well during the 2001 Field Day Event.
Great product and accessories.
