What else can I say about Milton. Did you ever find a repair person that just does everything right?? Like the auto mechanic that treats you fairly, knows exactly what he's doing, a true professional at his craft. Well, that's Milton Lord; N4DA. I am in awe of his ability to make my radios right again. Besides being lucky to live only 30 miles away from him. I can't say enough great things about him; just that if you ever need any radio work done to your equipment; there is no one else that even comes close. Besides, he's also a really nice guy. And get this: he enjoys his work !! I can only dream of having his technical ability. I've had 3 radios repaired by Milton over the past 4 years. I wouldn't even think of sending any of my equipment anywhere else for repair; not even the manufacturer. Trust me; you'll sleep better at night. Thanks Milton for all your help !! Although Milton was not able to repair my FT-1000D (which had taken a lightning hit), he did everything he could, including swapping out the main controller board with another known good board. I know he spent several hours working on it, and yet when I picked it up this morning he only charged for one hour of labor.

I purchased an Icom 746 off the web which turned out to have a power problem. Not having a local tech, I read N4DA's reviews and called Milton to verify he was familiar with the radio and schedule would permit him to look at it reasonably soon. There was a delay of a few days waiting on parts from the manufacturer, but I had the radio back very quickly. The radio appears to work fine, and I am satisfied with both the cost of his services and the quick turn around time. The best recommendation would be that 1. you would use him again, and 2. would recommend him to others. Both are the case here. I have an Icom 706Mk2G I intend to send him soon for checkup. HOpe this helps, Bob, N4GAQ.

"THIS GUY IS AWESOME"

Once again Milton Lord has worked his magic! I sent Milton my Kenwood TS-850S that had been dropped on it's face during shipping causing major cosmetic and internal damages. After locating "NEW PARTS" from Kenwood Milton did a total cosmetic reconstruction along with the needed internal repairs which included replacing many of the transceivers front panel controls with new ones. I was totally blown away when I received my "NEW" Kenwood TS-850S back on March 31st. (Much Sooner Than Expected) It looks and works like the day it was bought! His repair bill which also included a total realignment was very reasonable and his turn around time was unbelievably fast! Thank you Milton for your professional expertise, honesty, great customer communication, reasonable repair prices and fast turn around time! You are without any doubt, Simple The Very Best!

Radio Repair

My 746 Pro was hit by lightning last year. Knowing ICOM would not touch it I let it sit here for about six months. Heard about Mr. Lord and called him. Found him to be very streight forward and honest. Long story short I sent him the radio in December. After replaceing a couple of pieces parts he got it up and running only to find that it started self oscillateing. Quickly traced that problem down and ordered parts from ICOM. Here is were the delay started. ICOM backordered the parts. Yes, I said backordered. Incidentaly ICOM has locks at the board on these parts. Well, after about two months ICOM finally got off their duff and sent the parts. Got the radio back yesterday and it works perfect.
In short I give Mr. Lord a Tripple A+ for honesty, integrety and never say die. As for priceing I find him quite reasonable.
Thanks Mr. Lord and I will recommend your service.

Great Repair Service
|
Time owned: 6 to 12 months

I have had several radios repaired by Milton, N4DA, he has always given me great service. Too bad some hams are too cheap to pay the going price for service. If you want to pay for the going rate, please ship to Icom, Yaesu, or Kenwood. Too bad we want others to work for $5 an hour. Personally, I want to pay to get my radio fixed in a professional manner.

Milton Lord at Ham Radio Repair is the BEST! Period!

I had an amp that was just about to drive me nuts. Every time I would try to use it, it would make an arcing sound inside. I did everything I knew to do, but being handicapped, I was not able to pick up the amp up to pack it for shipping.....I live 150 miles from Milton Lord, N4DA. Milton heard about my problem and drove the 300 miles to pick up the amp, and carry it back to his shop....He could not find a thing wrong with the amp....It worked fine at his place....Then he drove the 150 miles back over here and hooked up the amp.....But the amp was Still making the arcing sound......He carried it back again to his place....the amp again worked fine at his place.....He came back again to my place and hooked up the amp....it again started making the arcing sound inside the amp....That is when he decided the problem was not in my amp, but something was wrong with my wiring.....He checked all the connections on my 220 line, and then he looked inside the breaker box.....that is when he found the problem....it never was the amp....it was the breaker....one leg of it had burned nearly into, and was arcing across the burned gap....He went to town and got me a new breaker, and installed it......That took care of the problem.....I would have NEVER thought to have looked at a breaker....I thought they either worked or didnt work....He taught me a valuable lesson.
OK to recap.....Milton had driven over a thousand miles back and forth in 3 trips coming to my place to work on my amp.....and then when I tried to pay him, he DIDN'T WANT ANY MONEY AT ALL!!!.....How many amateur radio repair shops would make three trips at over 300 miles per trip...and do all the trouble shooting he did....and not want to charge you a single penny for all his time and effort.....Good Grief! He was out at least $75 in gas alone....I finally got him to take his gas money, but he never did let me pay him for his work.
As you can tell from my story.....Milton is not just a person in business to make money from amateur radio....He is someone with a big heart, and a person that really cares about ham radio, and the people that make it a great hobby......
If you have amateur radio equipment that needs repaired, you will never do better than to have those repairs done by Milton Lord, N4DA at Ham Radio Repair.
He is a caring, honest, and very well trained person....He knows radios and amps.

Great Prices, Fast Professional Repair!

I've been using Milton Lord (N4DA) since becoming a ham in 1986. Never at any one time have I found him to be anything but honest! His years of professional training along with doing expert repairs is evident each and everytime I use him. It was no different this time when I sent him my Tokyo Hy-Power VHF Amplifier. He had it repaired and back to me in under two weeks! His charges are always reasonable! While reading some of the recent post about this man and his company I'm reminded that there are still people out there who suffer from delusions and are incapable of telling, "The Rest Of The Story"! Thanks Milton for always being there when I need you!

CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS

I spoke to Milton on the phone today about my YAESU FT-101EE. I had general questions about operation, tuning, service, alignment, ETC... He took 15-20 minutes of his OWN TIME to explain to me in detail about all of my questions and then some. Just from talking with Milton on the phone reminds me of days gone when customer service, politeness, and attention to what the customer is needing was forefront in a technician!! I will tell you this gentlemen, When my rigs need ANYTHING done to them, Milton Lord will be the one to do it. Thanks again Milton. 73's Nick Ashley W9ZXT TMA@MCHSI.COM
