works great. but took it down after 6 months and a screw was missing and I had to tighten everything up and put it back up. price is right
but I wish it held together better.

good but weak build
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months

put this up in april. it is a very good performer, putting the 1/4 wave to shame. noticed it leaning a bit so I took it down
and found screw gone and others loose. retightened and put back up. these little
sheet metal screws won't hold. gonna get some
locktite and extra lockwashers for my next repair and inspection. the whip just bends right
back...no problem. it gets really windy here.

Great Antenna
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
|
I put this antenna up after I outgrew modified mobiles on 6 foot tripods.....i put the cp-22e on a mast 20 feet up and you cant ask for more....i really love 2meter simplex and this antenna provides great ears....I also hit any repeater in my area.....My only recomendation , as others have said, use lock tite on the screws it takes a second and you will be glad you did. it survived a pretty poweful tropical storm/hurricane we had last august in long island. Price makes it a great deal.

A great antenna!

Take it out of the box. Put it together. It's ready to go -- no tuning necessary. The antenna analyzer showed the same thing as the chart!
The only problem is the sheet metal screws for the top section previously mentioned. The aluminum tubing is VERY soft and the screws strip easily. I used pop rivets in place of the screws and it seems fine. Another possibility would be to make a small sheet steel sleeve to go inside the aluminum tubing to hold the screws. (This joint does not need to be disassembled to store the antenna.)
I've recently been looking for a good antenna for portable/emergency use. Both the Hustler G3-144 and Ringo Ranger were disappointments. The Histler has poorly fitting hardware and an SO-239 that doesn't want to take the plug. It's also difficult to get a good tune. I've previously had good luck with Ringos, but this latest one isn't tuning well and the tubing clamps are of poorer quality than previously.
The Diamond is easier to assemble, doesn't need tuning, comes in a vinyl storage bag, has performance AT LEAST equal to the others, and costs less. A no-brainer. This is the one.

high wind? NP!
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

I saw a review that said the antenna couldn't take wind. Here in Southern Illinois on May 8, 2009 we experienced a "derecho" otherwise known as an "inland hurricane."
My CP22E was mounted on a 2" schedule 40 mast about 15 feet above my 2nd story roof. It survived winds of 106 mph without being damaged. It has been up there for at least 8 years now and I still love it.

Great antenna for the price

I bought this antenna right after Christmas and well very pleased with the assembly, only one bad thing about it is where the top element contacts it has 2 sheet metal screws that like to strip out. So i wrapped that part with tape and shook it and it stayed nice and tight... Antenna performs ALOT better then my copper j pole, even with the CP22E 5feet of the ground compared to the j pole at 50feet, the CP22E blows away the j pole... i am very satisfied with this antenna and a good base antenna to get you in to all the local repeaters with only 3 watts

Great Antenna
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
I finally took it down after three years of service. (I replaced it with a new Diamond dual band antenna.)
I had zero problems with it even after three Indiana winters and several storms with high winds. I had it up about five feet above the roof line on a two story home and routinely worked repeaters in a 50 to 75 mile radius (paired with an Icom 2200H).
I only replaced it when I needed a dual band antenna to match a new dual band radio.
I plan to put the antenna back in service at a second location in the near future where I expect it to continue to perform.

Great little antenna!!!

I have mine up almost 5 years and have no problems crop up. So I dont know why some hams down this antenna. Maybe they dont know what they are doing. Some threadlocker and some tape on the joints and the antenna is good to go! Its a good antenna! Decent gain and bandwidth. A couple of years back, when i was installing it on a couple of rat shack mast pipes the mast got away and fell and the antenna broke off at the bottom. I reworked the antenna and replaced the broken section with another piece of aluminum i had and now the antenna is just as good as new. If this antenna ever fails in the future i will get another one, no dought.

Very good antenna for any ham ,new or old!

This antenna is the best your $50.00 could buy for 2 meters. Got it in december 2007. Started with it at 30' on a mast with rg-8x for coax at first. Now it is at 45' on a mast and haves rg-213 on it, i can't relly tell much difference maybe a db or two on the meter. But always remember the higher the better when it comes to 2 meter verticals. Only one thing to say about the antenna it is not bad but you should use this as a helping guide. The anteena needs to be inspecterd at least one or two time a year. because some of the scews will work loose on you. My cp22e was missing the bolt that held it to the sleve that was holding it to the mast so when it was windy it was sping on the mast pole. So i put a new bolt on the pole when i inspected it. Also notest that the scews in the antenna where loose a little but no change in the swrs from december 2007 to late july 2008. When i inspected it i decided to rasie it up a little higher and put a bigger coax on it. So i rasied it 15' higher and put larger coax on it when i inspected it.With a name like dimond it haves to be good, as well as smuckers jams and jells. 73 from kj4aqv extra class

Good 144 mHz antenna
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
|
I bought Diamond CP-22E on post-1998 and until now it still standing (2007). This is my first 144 mHz antenna. I can recommend it as a beginner's 144 mHz vertcal antenna. Buy only original antenna.
