New style VS Old style
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
Cost of the MFJ-711 is from $19.00 to $24.00 depending where you go.
The old style MFJ-711 is excellent. the box has rivets and isolates the shield, you get two matching transformers. Drill out the rivets and look inside, you'll see a nice circuit board with 3 stages of filtering 3 coils [tuneable] 8 capacitors. The newer style has screws and has a small piece of coax at one end and an "F" connector on the other. Open that one up! Gee it
is similar to the Radio Shack 15-579 $5.00 filter.
inside those are 2 coils and 4 caps really poor quality etc.
Bottom line save your money. If you can find the older MFJ-711 you'll have a good high pass filter that might reduce/eliminate TVI, their newer one
won't.
By the way anyone with a solution to analog cable tv..to an in home theater tvi please contact me. My house is clean but I cause TVI at my neighbor's 100 feet away.
also any comments on digital cable and TVI if it occurs.
