Top Notch!  Time owned: 6 to 12 months

Buy one of these used before you purchase anything new from MFJ. I've had several MFJ tuners and there's no comparison. Palstar wins hands down.
The AT1500CV tunes my full wave loop (7mhz) anywhere I take it...160 thru 10 meters. It's also pretty beefy..doesn't tend to move around as you're tuning.
I would recommend this tuner without hesitation. Mike/KJ7GI

Right good tuner  Time owned: more than 12 months
My tuner is part of the configuration of my stattion running a Tentec Orion and a Carolina Windom. This would be a 5 but I had several occasions where the coupling(mechanical)for the roller inductor shaft loosened up. I think the last time I fixed it Paul offered to replace the coupling with a universal. I did not want to be without the tuner for any length of time so I tightened it up myself with the provided allen wrench. I may have put locktite of some sort on it. I would buy again.

I hate to rain on the parade but....!!!  Time owned: more than 12 months
It was with great anticipation that I awaited the delivery on my new Palstar tuner from an authorized ebay seller. It looked great and worked great for a while: then I was running 700 watts on SSTV on 20 meters and smelled smoke and saw it rising in the sunlight in my shack. I removed the cover to find the rear phenolic on the roller inductor had a hole burned clear thru it.
Previous reviewers had stated that Palstar had great customer service and I didn't expect otherwise so I sent it in under warranty.
Their position on examing the unit was that they had never had one of these fail in that manner before and that I would have to pay for the repair because it wasn't their fault. I remind you this was 700 watts into a dipole cut for 20 meters. What could I do? I asked them if I could trade it in on another of their tuners and they said no because I didn't buy it direct from them. I paid the over $100.00 bill for the repair and had it shipped back to me.
It has worked fine since return at more than 700 watts into the same antenna with no problem. In my opinion this is very lousy customer service for a supposedly under warranty product.
To add insult to injury, the paint on the antenna selector started to fall off. I sent them an email two weeks ago to see if they would help me with the problem....as yet no response.
Maybe this is why I see so many of these tuners for sale.

Nothing comes Close  Time owned: more than 12 months
Having used the Palstar AT1500CV for over 3 years, I am still delighted with the ease of use & ability to match that this atu offers. Build Quality is impressive, right down to the nylon washers used to prevent the screws that hold the lid on the main case to prevent scratching.

The slow motion drives & Roller Coaster Inductor all add up to make tuning so much easier than other atu's I've used from Starkville.

I made myself a tuning chart for the shack wall. This gives me somewhere to start tuning & using the chart I can quickly tune any of the antennas here.

There are probably only 2 features I'd like to see on this atu that would give it a 6 out of 5 if fitted.
Firstly, it would have been nice to have a through position when using balanced line feeder.
Secondly, the ability to run a second radio, or an analyser for tuning would have been a nice addition.

All in all, a great atu that hopefully will serve me for many years to come.

Almost 7 years!  Time owned: more than 12 months
First review was in Dec 2001. Since then the tuner has traveled quite a bit, including a trip back to the company to have the mod done to change from AT1500C to a CV; it has spent the last 3 years in CX land. I have used it for dipoles, loops, long wires, quads and verticals. I have used it with coax, 450 ohm ladder line and 600 ohm open wire feeders; I even used it to work rare dx on 80m by unscrewing the PL259 shell and slightly moving it out of the SO-239 to feed the feedline plus antenna (40m vertical dipole). I have used the tuner with Orion II and K2/K3 with 30L-1 and Acom 1000. I like it...it works FB...only issue is the lettering is worn off the "Bypass", "Coax 1" and "Coax 2" positions. No arcs or sparks, esta muy bueno..right now, it's used as an antenna switch sans tuner...Coax one is a 3 element Steppir, Coax 2 is 40m vertical dipole and Coax 2 Tuned is the 40m dipole tuned for 30m. it's a keeper...I dont have the room for a 160m antenna so that's not an issue with me. It has a low profile and blends nicely with the rest of my black equipment. Works great for a 1200w tuner.

Superb  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I have used the AT1500CV with an FT1000mp Mk V field and Ranger 811 amp into a G5RV. It is superb, unit. It is nice not to have to hold the unit to tune it, as I had to with my previous MFJ and Vectronics units.

Cheat sheet does help with the settings!

I would thoroughly recommend the CV.

Well made.  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Looks good, nice feel to the controls. I just wish the meter was a tad larger.

Highly recommended.

Perfect!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I've had this tuner for 3 years now and it has worked perfectly. Has been a great purchase. Very well built! Can't wait to get the new auto tuner.
