Excellent

I've been using AC Log for almost a year now. Tried many other logging programs but this is the most configurable and easiest to use that I have found.
I don't use all of the features but recently set up the cw macros to work with the Winkey in my US Navigator interface and now chasing the dx in a pileup is simple.
One function key to send my call and one to respond when you get them. Great for dxpedition chasing.
Highly recommended!

A lot of user flexibility
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

I've been running HF for almost 6 months now and figured paper logs would work well for me. Then I started working stations I had worked in the past and it got to be a pain to flip through the log book to see if I had worked him before and sent a QSL card. So, I decided I needed a logging program. I tried several (about 7) and none of them had the flexibility I was looking for. Most of them seemed to want you to track EVERYTHING. I'm not after all the awards, I just like talking to people and wanted a logger that I could set to track what I wanted. This one let's you pick which fields you want on the entry form, what order you want to enter them (I set mine up in the same order as in my log book) and what order to display them in the actual on screen log. It also has an easy to use editting process. And best of all - it's very intuitive to use. Like most of us, I don't like to read a lot of instructions, just show me how to start it and I'll figure it out from there. That's pretty much how this one works.

I love my AC Log, it does telnet spots,( which give you autofill and rig control to the spot) and I have it set to run rig control for my icom 756, 746 and my ts 2000. it also works as rig control for my 3 ele steppir. they all work flawlessly.
Scott and Kim are so responsive to the wishes of the users, it's like having your own personal software designer.
Also they have a group on yahoo that you can join and you also get free up grades for life, Check out N3FJP.com. like if you buy a new rig, say a ten-tec something or other , and are having trouble getting the rig control to work, leave a note at the yahoo group and in a couple of hours it will probably be fixed.. that fast.. Scott and Kim are great.
It is about $50 if you buy the whole package with all the contesting programs and the CD, but the basic log is only about $15 by itself.
This is the only log I can use with out reading the instructions. its that easy, and that good.
when operating I can click on a telnet spot, and the radio and the amp and the tuner all follow and so does the steppir, tunes to the exact frequency. it also prefills in most of the info, so its tab, tab, enter, next... it makes it that easy.
I think it's a super program, check it out.. you will be glad you did.
by the way I have used it for a couple of years now and have almost 6000 entries in the log, and it also can export adif files and can be set up to auto load to Log book of the World automatically.

Update, V2.5

It just can't possibly get easier than this.
Works PERFECTLY.
I purchased the whole package, around March 2003. You simply cannot go wrong with N3FJP.
It is a super deal.
I haven't tried the Contest ware yet, but it is there when I need it.
Scott seems to be constantly updating his programs to accomidate changes in rules/scoring, and to boot has further enhanced AC Log.
A GENERAL LOGGING PROGRAM COULD NOT POSSIBLY BE MORE INTUITIVE.
Now eQSL and ARRL LoTW option to Upload an entry from the main page...
Marvelous!
Thank you, Scott, this no hitch NO glitch, hassle free update has made my day.

Easy, Fast, Good Value

Very prompt response from author for unlock key after PayPal transaction. Recetly began using the logging program and am looking forward to putting contesting versions to use. The UI is very simple and atraightforward. A well-designed app for the basics of logging and managing contacts' data.
I tried some others but the learning curves were too steep. And they had features (CAT, rotor control) I don't need. For the price, N3FJP provides an outstanding value.
You can sample it without risk. Runs fine on my Win98ME box. No conflicts. Install program smart enough to recognize and not overwrite newer versions of its DLLs.

Excellent Flexible Logging Program
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

I have been looking for a Windows-based logging program which would allow me to log regular contacts but also run contests and import contest QSO's into the main log. The N3FJP main logging program is called Amateur Contact Log. It records the basic QSO information and is linked to a U.S. and Canadian call data base which comes with the program CD or may be accessed on the web. Using the station prefixes and call database, It will pick up and record what countries, states and U.S. counties you have worked on each mode and band. (You select counties for each state manually using a menu.) You can change the fields around to your satisfaction, and you can add a new county or DXCC entity if one is announced after you get the program. An interface for your sound card is available through N3FJP to send CW using the program. If you enter your QTH location, it will give you beam heading and distances to DX stations. You can search for previous contacts, print out QSL card labels and generate Cabrillo reporting files.
Also available are excellent separate programs for all the major contests such as CQWW, ARRL DX, Sweepstakes, 10 Meter Contest, etc. They make it easy to record contest QSO's, multipliers and running scores. Each of these is actually a stand-alone program, but the contest QSO's can be easily imported into the main Amateur Contact Log along with the name of the contests they are from. This is the feature I was really looking for.
I tried other contest logging programs before but they were very inflexible and would not let you enter basic information for non-contest QSO's such as name and QTH. At the same time, I found some of the other logging programs overly complicated by rig-control features I'll never use.
I will be using the N3FJP programs for my future logging and recommending them to people I like. Information on them may be found at http://www.n3fjp.com. You can download and try them for free. Modest registration fees are required, with the best deal being the $49 Sampler CD which includes registration for all the regular and contest programs, a ham club membership database program and the W/VE callsign database.

Effective and inexpensive

I really enjoy using AC Log and the separate contest logging programs. While not as intricate as CT and TR and similar programs, N3FJP provides a simple yet effective way to handle contest duping and report generation, as well as general logging. All the contest programs can export a file which can then be imported by AC Log, the main logbook program. I operated the Nov. SS and the recent 10-meter tests with just a push-button memory keyer (CMOS Super Keyer with S/N generation capability) and N3FJP's software and it was really easy to keep track of what was going on. I now know that I still need WY for QRP WAS. N3FJP offers a CD with all of the programs on it, and regisration fees are very low. I consider these programs incredible bargains.
