Great icoM 746 repair...
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
I live a 25 min drive and a 20 min ferry ride away from comtek so when I have a radio that needs repair I just take it there and drop it off / pick it up. This time I blew the drivers on my IC-746, I took it there on Monday and he was very nice, he asked me if I had time, I answered yes and he invited me in and diagnosed the problem right then and there, gave me a quote and gave me a time on when it would be ready. I also had him give it an alignment and open it up for MARS (I just became a mars member so might as well have the radio opened up for MARS by a professional while the radio is taken apart anyways). His work and service and great and he is an honest guy, no wonder he has such great reviews. You would be a fool to take your radio anywhere else!
Thanks comtek!

I have sent many Icom radios to Kuni for repair / routine maintenance. Always professional, REASONABLY priced and fast service. One thing I really like about Kuni is that he informs you as to the charges and why he performed the maintenance. Send your Icom to Kuni! He also installed a Sherwood roofing filter for me in a 765 which works perfectly.(of course!)

I am lucky as I live within easy driving distance to Kuni. I took my rig over to him on Monday for repair and it was ready for pickup in two days. Kuni did a great job and gave my rig a complete check and he also tweaked up the alignment. His invoice (very reasonable price) includes his measurements of receiver sensitivity and transmitter output. I had the chance to talk with him when I came to pick it up and he is a fine fellow. I told him that I will definitely send him any future equipment that I need repaired. Highly recommended!

I may as well join the “love fest”. I've used Kuni twice on suggestion of a club mate. Excellent on everything of course. I must add honesty to his traits. I sent a dead IC-706MKIIG out to him and got a phone call telling me that when he unpacked it there was nothing wrong with the rig. I think it had something to do with UPS's “drop ship” handling methods. So he sent it back no charge except for shipping. Let's face it, he could have legitimately charged me for something.

Repeat Performance

Improper insertion of the jumper wires in the SignaLink USB interface rendered my IC-775DSP speechless. Having used Kuni several times before with spectacular success on some sticky problems, off went my unit using UPS. I am always impressed with the immediate response when the unit arrives at his facility. As usual, the problem was found and fixed in record time. The unit is now returning via UPS and the entire turn around time may be less than a week. I can't tell you how comforting it is to have Kuni ready and waiting for my mishaps.

I sent a used IC-730 to Comtek for repair. Kuni was very quick to take a look at the radio and promptly replied to all my questions. The repair and shipping charges were very reasonable. Also, note that some other reputed service shops no longer service older rigs like ICOM IC-730.

Totally cost effective, and his work is wonderful. He tuned up my Icom 735 perfectly.
He's got a 5/5 for a reason =]

Kuni replaced the the trimmer caps in my old IC751A rig.
The turn around was quick, the charge was VERY reasonable.
Kuni/Comtek is #1 in my book.

Icom 756 Pro II, DOA, no output. Kuni expertly diagnosed problem, did component level repair on main board. Had radio back in shack in about 8 days...at a very reasonable price!
