IC-4KL REPAIR  Time owned: more than 12 months
My review is identical to K6GKB. Kuni was very good in communications and too he repaired my 4KL Power Supply. After reading the K6GKB comment below, I guess Kuni might have thought this was 4KL week or at least 4KL power supply week? If you have a radio or amp and want it repaired quickly at a very fair dollar? Kuni is the MAN !!!

Repairs Yaesu FT-736r also  Time owned: more than 12 months
Kuni not only works on Icom, (he did a excellent job on a Icom 551-D), but repaired two different Yaesu FT-736R tranceivers. Excellent work, fast turn around and very reasonable price. Highly recommend.

4-KL power supply failure  Time owned: more than 12 months
The power supply failed in my 4-KL. This is normally fatal as there is no circuit diagram for this unit. ICOM provides no support as this unit was not built by them. They did however give me the name of Kuni at Comtek who they said might be able to help.

One phone call and off the bottom half of my 4-KL went via UPS to Poulsbo WA. The day it arrived I got an e-mail telling me that he had found the problem and it would be back in a few days.

Upon arrival I assembled the top and bottom halves together again and to my delight it worked perfectly and has ever since.

My recommendation is that if it says ICOM on it, send it to Kuni!

KUNI DID IT AGAIN!!!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I send Kuni my IC2-KL for repair since the protector light was on all the time. Before sending the unit we exchange various email where he send me pictures to do some testing’s. He pin point the problem to a faulty transistors on the power supply. He replaced the transistors, check all the capacitors, tested, aligned, cleaned, and the amp is working like new. I am using it with the Omni VII at 30W to get 500w. His prices are very reasonable, communication is great and a GURU in Icom's. Thanks again KUNI!!!

Absolutely the Very Best!  Time owned: more than 12 months
After being provided a recommendation to consider Comtek for my repair work, I read the eHam reviews and decided to call Comtek.

I talked directly to Kuni and he provided me what turned out to be an accurate portrayal of probable cause, repair costs and timing. I sent in the 4 radios (Icom 746 Pro & 3 Alincos) and received a call from Kuni the day after the radios arrived at his shop. He confirmed the problems, total cost (very reasonable) and timing. Total time for the repair job was less than 3 weeks including shipping from Michigan to Washington state and back!

And here is the best part, everything works better than new, in addition to the repairs he went thru all four radios and verified/aligned/updated them and I swear he must have also cleaned them up - - they looked like new! Even the way he packed the radios for shipping was meticulous.

As our county's EC/RO and directly involved in the specification, purchase, use and maintenance of many radios, Kuni will be getting my radio repair business. If more people ran a business like Kuni, the world would be a better place - - he truly exceeded my exacting expectations!

Great service  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I have an Alinco DX-77T that would only transmit (poorly), on a couple of bands. After talking to Ham Distributors, it looked like the problem was some bad diodes on the filter board. Ham Distributors recommended Comtek.

I was reluctant to send this radio out for service, given all of the posted horror stories about Alinco repair.

Comtek was very professional! Kuni called with an estimate that was less expensive than expected and had the radio repaired within 1 (ONE) day. Very, very good service.

I would highly recommend Comtek.

good place good work  Time owned: more than 12 months
If you really want your radio equipment repaired for a really fair price contact:

http://www.w7jv.com/
KUNIHIKO OKUMA
26611 Hwy 3 N.W., Poulsbo, WA 98370
Phone/Fax: (360) 779-9730

I sent a radio to him because I did not have time to fix it myself and he did a great job for me. His rates are cheaper than the factory repair center and he takes pride in his work.
