Description: I have found Allied Electronics (www.alliedelec.com) to be one of the best companies to deal with when purchasing parts. Their local rep is great, and their prices are low. Especially for semiconductors. They have a wide selection of components, and ship quickly.

Outrages shipping charges, almost fraudelent

I ordered 50 cents worth of diodes. On the online for you see a price for your products and a $5 handling fee and nothing else. When you get further into the order the frieght changes to "pending". After you get your shipping confirmation, after it's to late to cancel, you get the total freight. For a 50 cent order they charge a $5 handling fee and $12.26 for shipping. The lack of a shipping fee should have warned me, a subsequent search on the web shows that this is common practice for them.

Great Parts Source

Placed an order for some common diodes 1N5408/1N4001 along with some LM44D00 DPDT hermetically sealed reed relays and smoothing capacitors. Sales staff was great, shipping was fast, and there is no minimum order.
