Great Performance

Time owned: more than 12 months

When I moved to my current location, I faced a number of interesting antenna requirements. My home is on the top of a 850' ridge, with a steep
drop off. It is also very windy (we have had winds of over 100 MPH). The logical spot for the
antenna was on the top of the house. I needed
something that had a short boom, and wanted a
yagi that specifically covered 17M. The result was
the Force 12 DXer/S, a 20-17-15 antenna that
uses the NOMAD open sleeve design (one feedline).
It is 6 elements - 2 on each band. The antenna
has performed perfectly, withstanding some major
storms. It is small, light, and has held up
for a number of years.
A few years ago, I wanted to add 10M to it. The
result was the DXer/S-Special, with 2 additional
elements added for 10M (no change in the boom).
One of the by-products of this modification (in
which the 10M driver is placed where the 15M element was, and the 15M is relocated above the
20M and 10M drivers) is that the SWR became flat
over the entire 15M band! That's right - 450khz
of 1.5:1 or less SWR!
8 elements, 4 bands, no traps,12 foot boom,with
outstanding performance. I can't ask much more from an antenna.
