I purchased a HX-650 about 15 years ago, when I was very active on VHF. It is solid, well-built, and has required no maintenance whatsoever. Its front end has very good dynamic range and only moderate gain, so it can handle strong signals without much IMD. A preamplifier is available at the push of a button if you need it. Transmitted signal quality is also very good. I used this transverter in several very intense VHF contests as well as for casual DXing and it never disappointed me. -W9IP
