Good service!!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Had my Icom IC-756 Pro II sent there for an auto tuner problem. Quick repair, resonable cost, who could ask for better? Quick turn around, friendly people!!!

Great Outfit  Time owned: more than 12 months
Burghardt had the foresight to have on hand a bunch of parts for some Yaesu models that were getting ready to become obsolete. When parts were not available from Yaesu, Burghardt's had them. They fixed my gear at a fair price. Fortunately, for me it turned out to be an insurance job

Top Notch  Time owned: more than 12 months
My first rig came from Burghardt's...Kenwood "D" Twins all shiny and new. The receiver was dead on 15 meters. I called them and was told to ship it back. Do you know that they went ahead and shipped me out a new one before having even received the old one first? I was, and many years and transactions with them later, think they are some special folks in Watertown, SD

Excellent Repair Work  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have purchased most of my equipment since 1956 from Burghardt Amateur Center. I have not had many problems over the years but if they arise they are always willing to repair the problems and in a speedy way. Have never had any problems with their repair work. I tell my friends to buy equipment from them as they will service them. They also service equipment not purchased from them. I highly recommend the repair work and service from Burghardt Amateur Center. David, Jim, and Mike are first class individuals.

Exc. FT-990AC Repair  Time owned: more than 12 months
At the direction of Yaesu, I sent my FT-990AC to Burghardt with great fear and trepidation. I received a reasonable repair quote, accepted it, and the rig was returned in fine condition a week later. Seems I blew the finals and other associated parts for some truly unknown reason. At any rate, Burghardt gets nothing but kudos from me!

Excellent Service  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have done business with Burghardt on a large HF used rig and had to return it for work...excellent work and quick return was the result. They are always very nice and professional to talk with on the phone. I highly recommend them.

Awful Experience  Time owned: more than 12 months
I sent my Yaesu Ft8100 to Burghardt for repair as it wasn't transmitting on 2 meters. They emailed the following:

Dear Sir or Madam,
We have received your Yaesu FT-8100R S/N 8C080104 for repair. The unit is not repairable because needed parts are no longer available.
This is an estimate of the cost to repair the above unit. Return shipping and handling charges are not included in this estimate. This repair does not cover any additional problems which may be discovered once the actual work begins. If an additional cost is involved, you will be notified again prior to completion of the repairs with a revised estimate. If you accept this estimate, you are authorizing the repairs and you will be responsible for the amount indicated plus shipping and handling, before your unit can be returned to you. If you do not respond within 30 days of the date on this letter, your unit will be subject to disposal.
If you would like the unit back unrepaired, there is a $37.50 evaluation fee plus shipping and handling charges.
Please contact us at 605-886-7314 or E-mail ka0jdn@burghardt-amateur.com so we can proceed with the repair.

Thankyou for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

David J. Smith
(Service Manager/CET)

After unit was returned, I found the problem was a via. Inserted a wire into the hole and soldered it in place....works great now. This repair only took about 5 minutes. Burghardt obviously wants to sell new equipment rather than repair the old.

Recommend  Time owned: more than 12 months
I sent my Yaesu FT1000D originally purchased new in 1999 to Burghardt for repair on 9/24/08 (finals). It was shipped in the original packaging.
The FT1000D was received repaired 10/20/08. The radio left here in good clean condition, no scratches. The radio was received in the original packaging in the same condition but was even cleaner. Burghardt is easy to contact and seem to have their act together, who could ask for anything more? Yaesu doesn’t work on their 9 year old radios, something to consider when purchasing that new $10,000.00 rig.

Great Service  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have been using these guys for several years on repairs and there top notch, there prices are reasonable and there turn-around is quick. I also find that as a retail ham store, there quite competative. I really like these guys and when I need a repair or a purchase there my first choice.

sales tax  Time owned: more than 12 months
I reciently sent my icom 746 in for the sudden death sindrome. the ic#151 problem.they repaired it but i noticed they charged me sales tax on labor, shipping. i had them install the bev board in the rig and it works fine. the return shipping box was was 1 wall construction and kinda flimsy. i got a small dent in the back corner of the rig which wasnt there when i sent it.their care of shipping needs much to be desired. i would say their work is ok but the sales tax thing and the way they packed it to return to me is my main beef.
