Silent & Powerful
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
(Updated link below)
I have owned my ALPHA SEVENTY S/N 156 for the past eight years and it has been an excellent performer, particularly on SSB where the amplifier silently produces CCS legal limit output.
The 70V utilizes vapor-phase cooling (using approximately one-pint of distilled water) and is much more efficient at transferring heat than that of air or pure water cooling.
The 3CV1500A7 tubes are a rare find, but a boiler from a dud can be welded onto a 3CX1000A7 for a perfect retrofit.
Pictures of my amp can be seen on the Alpha-Power web site at:

Nice Classic

Have used the old Dick Ehrhorn PA-70V for a while...Nice to use a full legal amplifier with
no loud blower noise..This unit is built like a battle-ship with one of those brick .... houses on its deck hi...Loads up on 160 through 10 but not 12 meters with out changing the plate choke..
Full 1500 watts out with about 50 to 70 watts of drive..No noise just great power...Very rare and hard to find..
