If you want the most efficient tuner possible, a link-coupled tuner like this is the way to go For Ladder Line. This tuner outperformed my Johnson Matchbox!!! If you can find one get it, I found one on ebay for $100.00

As near as I can determine, these tuners were made in limited quantities in the early 1970's. The case is composed entirely of 1/4" black plexiglass to preserve circuit Q. The tuning procedure involves removing the front "drawer" and positioning 3 alligator clips to the appropriate positions for that band.
Then the 3 knobs on front are adjusted for minimum SWR, usually 1:1 on all bands -- WARC included -- from 80-10M. Try that with a Johnson Matchbox (I did.. it didn't work). I rate it a "4" because changing alligator clips is a pain in the butt.
But if you have a balanced feedline antenna and want to reduce stray RF and TVI, and you want the most efficient tuner possible, a link-coupled tuner like this is the way to go. This tuner outperformed and replaced a Ten-Tec 238, an LDG AT-11MP, and a Johnson Matchbox, all of which I used for my 270ft ladder-fed doublet. I still need a solution for 160M.
