GREAT PERFORMER!!

THIS IS ONE OF THE EASIEST ANTENNA'S I HAVE EVER USED. IT IS VERY EFFICIENT. THE WAY THEY "CLAMP" TO CHANGE THE INDUCTANCE IS VERY SECURE AND FOOL PROOF. IT HAS A GOOD AND SIMPLE DESIGN THAT SHOULD LAST A LONG TIME AND PROVIDE GOOD SERVICE TO YOU. PARTS ARE AVALIABLE AND JAY WILL HELP YOU OVER THE PHONE WHEN YOU NEED IT. AND IT DOES HANDLE 1000-WATTS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM AT ALL.. 73 AND HAPPY MOBILE'ING...

An effecient mobile antenna that will handle high power
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

As an antenna expermenter I find the California Bug-Smasher inductor design quick & easy to use with several different loading configurations. The method of contact with the inductor is positive & offers a connection that will not fail with the use of high power.
The antenna performs on the air with excellent results (signal reports equal to or better than several other popular designs) & offers quick & easy change of inductance to suit what ever need the owner requires.

Very Well Made

I've seen this antenna up close and it really is made well. It's Heavy Duty construction makes it great for RV's and off roading. The coil appears to have a very high Q made on a nice coil form having tin plated 12 AWG wire.

EXCELLENT !!

I am using the K6MB Californian Bug Smasher model number CB-S-L. It was a replacement for my previously well used and good performing Viper (South Africa antenna similar to a Hustler). I find the CB-S-L an excellent performer. I run only 100 watts from an IC706, and regularly manage mobile - mobile QSO's on 20m LP between South Africa and California. On 40m, it easily outperforms other Screw Driver / Cente Loaded / Base Loaded type antennas during parking lot shootouts. It is easy to change bands, and works well on all bands I have tried from 40m - 10m. It does require a heavy mast and spring coil, but in my books the antenna is a winner. Workmanship and quality can not be faulted !

Excellent Performance

Although these antennas are not motorized, the ease of tuning, especially with the pre set STOPS
is quick and foolproof. Excellent performance, very well built.
