REALLY RFI Proof.
|

The Microlog ATR-6800, and the later ACT-1, were unigue in the industry. These terminals were completely enclosed by a METAL shell and had extensive RFI shielding to prevent computer noise from getting into your radio. We even had them running SITOR (Original commercial version of HAM AMTOR) on commercial ships where the transmit antenna started at the top of the transmitter cabinet! Typically, there was 3 to 5 feet of antenna right there in the room with you before it exited to outside. Talk about RFI! You could light a 40 watt flourescent light bulb in your hand when the XMTR was keyed! The terminals worked great too. When the computer plug-ins came along, most hams found them unuseable due to the high level of noise heard in the radio. Not so with the ATR-6800. RFI was very seldom a problem with them.
