Classic 90's beef  Time owned: more than 12 months
I miss the one I had several years ago. Solid 50 watts all day long without a fan, wide-ish RX coverage -- why did Alinco include an unblocked cell-ready 800 RX board in these? It Is A Mystery But It's There (just like the DR-110).......goofy Alinco UI but if you only need a dozen memories, you're fine. Great on packet. This thing took my 2m station to the next level back in the day, and now I want to pick one up again.

Keeps on working...  Time owned: more than 12 months
Bought mine in 1993 and never had a problem with it. I've had to replace the back light lamps and the paint on the buttons have worn off but that is to be expected through normal wear and tear. Only one complaint: Alinco should have put 3 power levels in the radio instaed of 2. It's either 5 or 50 watts output. Feast or famine! They should have included a 25w level. Other than this complaint it's a great radio. I still use mine for local FM ragchewing.

Lasts forever!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I bought this radio new also. It has been in three vehicles and has been bounced around a lot in the mountains. I now have it in the shack. I stuck some Radio Shack clear rubber feet on it and use it for 2 meter repeater work. Some people may complain about only 16 memories, but that's enough in this area...a clean, tight little rig with a heart of a bull.

GREAT RADIO  Time owned: more than 12 months
Bought this rig new about 7 years ago. I ran it in 5 different vehicles, then put it away for about 5 years. After 5 years, I took it out and installed it in my truck. It still had the memories programmed inside. According to the Instruction manual, the back up battery was only rated to last 5 years.

The 50watts high power means that if I can hear a station, I can work it, including a repeater about 55 miles away.

To modify for extended receive, it only took cutting a wire, then resetting the radio. Works all the way up into the 800mhz for recieve, the only draw back from the modification is that you can now transmit ubove the 2 meter band. So be CAREFUL!!

The radio is no longer a current product, but if your looking for a compact rig with a lot of punch, then if you spy one used anywhere, snatch it up quick......... If the ratings would allow a 10+ that is what I would give this radio.... the only draw back is single band, and only 16 memories.

This is the only radio that I have bought new, not used, and the first true mobile rig (not an HT)
