Still a GREAT tuner
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

Well it has been almost a year since my last review, wow how time flies. I am still using this tuner, although I have up graded the shack, acquired an amp, different rigs, etc. My beloved TS-480HX was sold to a friend of mine,in its place is an Icom IC-746Pro, my Yaesu FT-897D is now in Montana, in its place is a Kenwood TS-680. But the Daiwa CNW-419 is still in the shack, now on the TS-680. I really like the way this tuner works, very smooth, easy to find the sweet spots with this tuner. My only complaint, not even a complaint is that it is only good for 200 watts. Still and all it works very, very well with the 680.
I have several antennas now to choose from, I still have my 67' OCF dipole, (its down for maintainance), but I do have a 102' G5RV that does very well, I also have a Mosley TA-33 basic 3 band 3 element beam on my HyGain HG-52SS tower. My Mosley's SWR's are off a tad so have to use the tuner to touch them up, and the CNW-419 does it very well indeed.
If you find one of these gems GET IT!! You wont be sorry you did. True it doesn't cover 160 meters, doesn't have a light for the meter, but when all is said and done I still love this tuner, it wont be leaving my shack for quite some time. Now then , anyone know where I can find a COMPLETE manual? The one I have just covers the basics, would like to know what the letters A-H,I think would have to go out back & look. Would like to know the full capabilities of this tuner.

15 years troublefree

I bought this tuner in 1991 and used it for about 4 years without any troubles, very solid finish. Sold it after upgrading the station with a linear to a friend who still uses its today. 15 years for an almost daily used item is not bad.

Works Well!

I have used this transmatch for three years and it works well. It is well built and will match a wide verity of impedances. It will allow me to tune my 6-meter rig to my 132-foot doublet. Only minus is it does not have a 1:1 or 4:1 balun to connect to balanced tuned feeders. You have to add an outboard balum. Well worth the money.

A great tuner!

I have had this tuner ever since it first came out in the eighties, never parted with it and it has survived despite rigs being changed over the years. I have used the tuner with end fed antenna's, G5RV's and it variants, dipoles and the rest.If you want a first class manual tuner that is reliable, tunes virtually anything then this is it, look out for one and buy!

This is my second 419 and it's going to stay in the shack this time .I find it tunes just about anything that you connect to it,not like the MFJ range .If anyone is after a manual tuner go for one of these .

Looks the Part

I've just got a CNW-419 from E-Bay. What a size! A serious looking bit of kit.
Unfortunately this came without a user manual. Anybody able to tell me where I can get one?
One other thing. It doesn't appear to work at anything over 18MHz. Any ideas?

Hello,
i have also a Daiwa CNW-419 tuner!
Works great! Automatic would be a nice thing, but i have the positions of the knobs for each band on paper so no problem for fast tuning!!!
