Wonderful Rig  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have had two of these great rigs. They have one of the best receivers I have ever used. I have had some rigs like the 756 Pro3, 746 pro, FT 950, etc and the 751A is as good or better than most of these! If you find one in good shape grab it! I will never sell my 751A as so far anything I hear on the newer rigs I can hear as well on the 751A.

Great Radio for Ease of Use, Reliability and Bang for the Bucks  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
Great radio and for the price it is loaded with features that will keep the novice busy and the seasoned happy. This radio is built like a tank and most likely more dependable than your best friend. I have a friend who after hearing my radio on our daily/weekly nets liked the way it sounded and bought his own 751a at our last Ham Fest. I like the way the ALC keeps my PEP to AVG on AM and lets it all go on SSB. The only upgrade I am considering in the future is probably acquiring an IC-781. One piece of advice is not to confuse this model with the earlier IC-751. These two radios are different.

Best HF rig of it's day!  Time owned: more than 12 months
C'mon folks, if you could find one, you'd have one! I came home from Dayton in 87 with mine. Super all around performance Rx/Tx. I'll trade you mine for an IC-7800!

A Great Transceiver  Time owned: more than 12 months
I got my 751A used to move up from my IC-730. What a great radio easy to use with very good tx and rx. There are no better deals on the market for a used transceiver. I now have a Ten-Tec Omni VII as my primary radio but I use and love my IC-751A. If you can find one get it.

Built like a tank  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
After installing the "PIEXX ICOMPROM ICOM Non-Volatile RAM Module" and replacing some capacitors I´m confident my radio will continue to deliver for many years to come. The combination of straight forward user interface, good RX/TX performance and general stability makes operation a joy. One of the best buys on second-hand market.

My favorite  Time owned: more than 12 months
Overall, as good as any radio I have owned in my 35+ years of hamming. Would have been perfect if it had a built in tuner. Wish I hadn't sold mine.

Great Rig!  Time owned: more than 12 months
Bought mine new in 1992, used it non stop for 5 years then kinda went away due to other things, just brought it out of the box bought a new Piexx module, and it back in business just like new, I've heard the internal power supply is noisy and makes some heat, mine has never had this so it is only what I have heard, might want to research this a little, bottom line is this is a very nice radio.

VERY VERY GOOD  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I have been looking for a nice IC-751A for a long time. It has gotten such good reviews that I wanted to try one. I am not disappointed. I found one loaded with filters and the internal power supply. It really is a good radio. The only down side is that it belonged to a smoker and still has an odor even after cleaning it. Of course this is not a radio flaw ....

What else is there?  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I was lucky enough to get my paws on the best HF transceiver there is. The deal is, if I ever have to sell it myself, I have to sell it back to the fellow I bought it from. He's dreaming if he thinks I'll ever sell it. I played around for a couple of weeks checking, double checking and triple checking antennas, wires, power supplies and so forth then, when called upon, the radio just worked and did what I asked of it. It is easy to operate and understand. I don't need any more bells and whistles, I want a radio and that's exactly what I've got. The case is metal not plastic so I can put my laptop on top of it without interference and without damage. I get good audio reports from other stations so I really can't see what else anyone would ever want in an HF radio. If Icom ever do another production run of this radio, I'll probably buy another one.
