worst experience of my life  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
okay here the first person that had the issue PLease read below for my part of the story!

ok the story about 5 months ago my board quit working so I took it to one of the valid authorized Line 6 repair shops in Ohio. The RF shop located in Hamilton, Ohio listed in the list of valid dealers. After a few weeks they finally got back with me and told me that my bored had been fried. Me, being in a touring band needed to have that problem solved fast so I said what can i do don't really have the cash to afford a new pedal he said well what I can do is order you a new board from line 6 we dont have to replace the whole pedal itself just the board inside I said great. Well it took almost a month and they finally recieved the board from your company. They call me up to come get my xt Live Pod of course im so happy I get it take it home plug it in it works great. Now I have to transfer all of my effects back on to my board from my computer plug it in and what do I see and error message that says Not valid Line 6 Hardware please Contact support. So I contact support they tell me that the easiest way to fix this problem after all options were gone over is to have them switch out the new chip with my old one from the board. So I call up the RF shop and he says yeah bring it over we can do it they switch out the chip I take it home plug it in same error!!!! So I call him up he says that he is going to contact you to get a new board and until last week I hadn't heard from him in 5 months. Something is wrong with the board you guys sent me and I would love to fix this problem seeing how I spent a lot of money on my board. So if who ever is reading this can forward this message to someone who can contact the RF shop in Hamilton, Ohio and let them know you will be sending out a new board that would be awesome. The Number there is 513-737-0043 and Randy the man who owns it his cell number is 513-479-4188 if he doesn't answer leave a message so he can get a hold of you and can finally get this situtation solved!!! Thank you so much
Sincerely,
Jason Roy

Now for my part of the story;

OKay, so I now own this pedal. Still not fixed. When I called Randy, he said he would have it a max of three weeks. After 3 weeks I had to call line 6 myself, because Randy kept saying he would call me back, then I would never hear back from him, so I would call the next day. He said he was still waiting for the board. So when I talk to Neil(at line6), he says Randy hasn't ordered anything for the pedal yet. This is after Randy said he already ordered the new board. So after 4 weeks I call again, same "I'll call you back"! No call. I call the next day, "Still waiting haven't heard anything from line6" he says! So I inform him again that I already talked to Neil and nothing has been ordered. He scrambles and gets me off the phone ASAP with yet another promise to call me back! At this point I am really questioning whether I will ever get to play through the pedal again. I have been promised a call back and never recieved one. So after 6 weeks, many calls later by me, he finally says that Line6 has to burn another chip to match the board(amazingly, I guess I don't need the board anymore that was supposed to be ordered 6 weeks prior?). This was last monday and said it would be at the rf shop and done by early this week. Well we are now past that date as well.

I am sincerely fedup with the way this repair is being handled!

I am tired of getting the run around. I mean, if he would have just been straight up with me, I would have understood. The time frame isn't the issue, its the lack of communication from Randy!

If he would just tell me something when I call besides I will call you right back, and then never does, I would feel much better.

Please....please...please give some hope that I can get back to jammin with my super sweet xt live. My band just isn't the same without line 6!!!!!!!!!

I drove 90 minutes to drop it off at his shop!

I am going to be in the area Holiday Shopping on Friday. If its not fixed by then i guess I will just have to count my losses and sell it cheap. Chalk it up as a lesson learned!

Sincerely;

Jay Wile

Alinco vhf 135d  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
After two years I am still waiting for the return of my rig. Randy said it needed a new main board cost was more than a new rig. I said to tell me his bench fee and I would pay that and return the radio.

Still waiting

how can a religous man cheat someone the way they did me?  Time owned: months
last year i took my hygain #3750 and sb-220 there , the radio needed minor recieve repair and the amp needed caps.that was feb.2007.
2 mos. go by and i send an email.no responce. another month. i get an email saying the tubes in my amp are 80%??? how can you measure 3-500z's?
right then i knew i was in trouble.
well to make a long sad story short 6 mos. went by and someone calls me and say my equipment is ready to pick up.next day i'm there. the guy (not Randy) that took my equipment and said he would repair it totaled the bill and it was $280.00 if i remember correctly. i paid him cash and he hands me the sheet with repairs on it which was so much bull s**t and then to top that off he tells me the radio would not even transmit and he didn't know anything about making repairs on it. and my amp, after they email me and tell me the tubes are 80% he tells me that the tubes are bad and won't make power. how the hell can someone screw a man so bad as they did me is beyond my relm of thinking.i would have paid a bench charge but to act like my equipment was repaired and after i pay for it then he tells me none of it works? i have the repair bill and all of the emails as proof.you guys can say or do what ever you want about the RF shop, but i can ashure you that i have told everyone on the internet my story and warned hams on the radio what the result was of taking my prised equipment to The RF shop in hamilton oh.

Terrible!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I sent my Alinco DJV5 in over two months ago for repair. It took several weeks to get a response from a live person after initially sending it in for inspection. When I finally got a live person on the phone, I was quoted a repair price and gave them my card info. Since that time, I have emailed and/or called what seems like a dozen times to find out the status of my repair. To no avail, I cannot get anybody to respond! I now see a notice on their web site indicating that they have quit accepting ham radio equipment for repair due to having problems obtaining parts!? I just want to know what happened to my rig and if I'm going to get it back repaired or broken? Or not at all? Shame on Alinco for allowing an outfit like this to be an authorized repair outlet! Or shame on Alinco for not giving them the parts and support they need! I don't know which is the case here but it's a sad situation indeed! If I'd known about this prior to sending it there, I would have sent it to one of the other repair outlets listed. This is got to be the absolute worst service I've ever experienced. This will definitely sway my decision to buy the Alinco Brand in the future!

POOR SERVICE  Time owned: months
I sent my Icom 738 to the RF Shop in October and didn't receive it back until February. I sent numerous e mails which were never answered and when I called on the phone Randy was never around. It cost me $204.70 and it still wasn't fixed when I got it back.

Perfect  Time owned: more than 12 months
I am in Columbus Ohio. Randy is about 1.5 hour drive from me. Near Cincy. Previous reviews of this business have been mixed. I made a decision to take a Dentron MLA-2500 to him that was damaged by UPS in shipping. the amp is prestine. He repaired a few minor solder joints, did some internal clean up. The tubes 8875 tubes became dislodged during shipment. I met am employee wof Randy's on a Saturday morning, approx. 1.5 hours early. Dropped it off was given a receipte. Randy's workers fixed the damaged that the UPS monkeys did in shipment. Randy does the admin stuff now from what he tells me. the staff or worker fixed my problem. Would I go back again, Sure. now the hours are m-th 10-5 PM. Monday thru thursday Fri-Sat by appointment. The drop off fix and return was like clock work. I would have wished I could have got it fixed when I dropped it off. but gosh its 2009 and we all have schedules. Randy and his crew fixed my problem. Dropp off and pick up under 2 weeks. my repair ran like clockwork. called me when I expected. if your in the tristate area, drop it off and pick it up. I now have a second HF repair outlet. Great Repair / Delayed Ship  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Sent a Yaesu FT8100R in for repair. Has been running for three weeks now with no problems. Received the radio back a week later than promised. It had been repaired but not shipped. There was no explanation why they did not ship when promised. They did not respond to my e-mail. If they would have answered my e-mail, the rating would be a 5. Yes, I would use them again.

keeping my Yeasu ??  Time owned: more than 12 months
after writing a nice review in Sep 07, I sent my Yeasu gxII, and lo and behold, I can't seem to get it back and no reply from my repeated emails.
When I call by phone, they never return my calls/
I asked them by email to just return the radio and let me know what the charges are and let it go. Its been almost 12 months to the date and no reply. HOPE OTHERS RECONSIDER USING RF SHOP FOR REPAIRS. I AM CONSIDERING FRAUD CHARGES ETC.
SINCE THEY WON'T RETURN CALLS OR EMAILS.

Alinco DX70Th repair  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
Found Randy on here looking for opinions, called him and he told me to send my radio to him, he would cover the warranty. He gave me a call in the window of time he gave me and told me they couldn't find the problem I was having with it (wouldn't go to USB). He was gonna ship it back and told me what it cost so far. It was fair and I had no problem with that, He called a few hours later to inform me while he was on the phone with me the tech who was working on it finally had the problem show up and he traced it down to a cold solder joint, told me they repaired it and did the mods from Alinco and was being shipped. I got it within a few days and the radio works great and better than before. I have no problem sending him more of my radios for repair.

PS....Alinco covered it all under warranty.
