Alinco vhf 135d  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
After two years I am still waiting for the return of my rig. Randy said it needed a new main board cost was more than a new rig. I said to tell me his bench fee and I would pay that and return the radio.

Still waiting

how can a religous man cheat someone the way they did me?  Time owned: months
last year i took my hygain #3750 and sb-220 there , the radio needed minor recieve repair and the amp needed caps.that was feb.2007.
2 mos. go by and i send an email.no responce. another month. i get an email saying the tubes in my amp are 80%??? how can you measure 3-500z's?
right then i knew i was in trouble.
well to make a long sad story short 6 mos. went by and someone calls me and say my equipment is ready to pick up.next day i'm there. the guy (not Randy) that took my equipment and said he would repair it totaled the bill and it was $280.00 if i remember correctly. i paid him cash and he hands me the sheet with repairs on it which was so much bull s**t and then to top that off he tells me the radio would not even transmit and he didn't know anything about making repairs on it. and my amp, after they email me and tell me the tubes are 80% he tells me that the tubes are bad and won't make power. how the hell can someone screw a man so bad as they did me is beyond my relm of thinking.i would have paid a bench charge but to act like my equipment was repaired and after i pay for it then he tells me none of it works? i have the repair bill and all of the emails as proof.you guys can say or do what ever you want about the RF shop, but i can ashure you that i have told everyone on the internet my story and warned hams on the radio what the result was of taking my prised equipment to The RF shop in hamilton oh.

Terrible!  Time owned: more than 12 months
I sent my Alinco DJV5 in over two months ago for repair. It took several weeks to get a response from a live person after initially sending it in for inspection. When I finally got a live person on the phone, I was quoted a repair price and gave them my card info. Since that time, I have emailed and/or called what seems like a dozen times to find out the status of my repair. To no avail, I cannot get anybody to respond! I now see a notice on their web site indicating that they have quit accepting ham radio equipment for repair due to having problems obtaining parts!? I just want to know what happened to my rig and if I'm going to get it back repaired or broken? Or not at all? Shame on Alinco for allowing an outfit like this to be an authorized repair outlet! Or shame on Alinco for not giving them the parts and support they need! I don't know which is the case here but it's a sad situation indeed! If I'd known about this prior to sending it there, I would have sent it to one of the other repair outlets listed. This is got to be the absolute worst service I've ever experienced. This will definitely sway my decision to buy the Alinco Brand in the future!

POOR SERVICE  Time owned: months
I sent my Icom 738 to the RF Shop in October and didn't receive it back until February. I sent numerous e mails which were never answered and when I called on the phone Randy was never around. It cost me $204.70 and it still wasn't fixed when I got it back.

Perfect  Time owned: more than 12 months
I am in Columbus Ohio. Randy is about 1.5 hour drive from me. Near Cincy. Previous reviews of this business have been mixed. I made a decision to take a Dentron MLA-2500 to him that was damaged by UPS in shipping. the amp is prestine. He repaired a few minor solder joints, did some internal clean up. The tubes 8875 tubes became dislodged during shipment. I met am employee wof Randy's on a Saturday morning, approx. 1.5 hours early. Dropped it off was given a receipte. Randy's workers fixed the damaged that the UPS monkeys did in shipment. Randy does the admin stuff now from what he tells me. the staff or worker fixed my problem. Would I go back again, Sure. now the hours are m-th 10-5 PM. Monday thru thursday Fri-Sat by appointment. The drop off fix and return was like clock work. I would have wished I could have got it fixed when I dropped it off. but gosh its 2009 and we all have schedules. Randy and his crew fixed my problem. Dropp off and pick up under 2 weeks. my repair ran like clockwork. called me when I expected. if your in the tristate area, drop it off and pick it up. I now have a second HF repair outlet. Great Repair / Delayed Ship  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Sent a Yaesu FT8100R in for repair. Has been running for three weeks now with no problems. Received the radio back a week later than promised. It had been repaired but not shipped. There was no explanation why they did not ship when promised. They did not respond to my e-mail. If they would have answered my e-mail, the rating would be a 5. Yes, I would use them again.

keeping my Yeasu ??  Time owned: more than 12 months
after writing a nice review in Sep 07, I sent my Yeasu gxII, and lo and behold, I can't seem to get it back and no reply from my repeated emails.
When I call by phone, they never return my calls/
I asked them by email to just return the radio and let me know what the charges are and let it go. Its been almost 12 months to the date and no reply. HOPE OTHERS RECONSIDER USING RF SHOP FOR REPAIRS. I AM CONSIDERING FRAUD CHARGES ETC.
SINCE THEY WON'T RETURN CALLS OR EMAILS.

Alinco DX70Th repair  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
Found Randy on here looking for opinions, called him and he told me to send my radio to him, he would cover the warranty. He gave me a call in the window of time he gave me and told me they couldn't find the problem I was having with it (wouldn't go to USB). He was gonna ship it back and told me what it cost so far. It was fair and I had no problem with that, He called a few hours later to inform me while he was on the phone with me the tech who was working on it finally had the problem show up and he traced it down to a cold solder joint, told me they repaired it and did the mods from Alinco and was being shipped. I got it within a few days and the radio works great and better than before. I have no problem sending him more of my radios for repair.

PS....Alinco covered it all under warranty.

AMP  Time owned: more than 12 months
I bought a ALPHA 374 AMP. in 2006, worked great, but the power supply was leaking.
I send it To The R. F. SHOP for repairers. While he (Randy) had it I ask if 160 meter could be in installed
along with replacing the 3 8874 tubes for cheaper tubes. He (Randy) answered YES.

I mailed it out in May 2006 after 21 months later (January 2008) I received the ALPHA 374 AMP. from
TENNESSEE which He (Randy) informed me that he had send the AMP. on to his brother in-law in TENNESSE.
After unpacking it I notice there was something inside rolling around. I removed the top
and removed washer, screws, and solder. Also the coil was piled up with solder.

The 3 8874 tubes was replaced with 2 Gi7B tubes which I plugged in.
The front of the case had the EPOXY finger prints so looking closer the Meter was broken
from the inter case and replaced by EPOXY, now it won't say in place. The mounts for the
POWER SUPPY is all bent up I went ahead and plugged the AMP. to electric. The grid was pegged.
The tubes got so HOT that the solder boiled out of the tubes, Now the tubes are gone.

I called Randy to report all these problems. His respondence was
he saw 1900 to 2000 Watts on all bands before it was shipped.
My QUESTION is how did he see all this power if the AMP. was fixed by his brother in-law in TENNESSEE
and mailed from TENNESSEE????????
