Reviews Summary for Donners Digital Interfaces - CW Hard Keying Interface
Donners Digital Interfaces - CW Hard Keying Interface Reviews: 2 Average rating: 5.0/5 MSRP: $15.00
Description: If you've been seeing software like Hamscope
and other fine softwares (including many Field Day logging softwares) that have the option for hard keying CW from your keyboard, and want to give it a try, here's the item that you need! This interface has it's hardware in the DB9 hood (no box to deal with). It allows you to use the DTR line which is the best choice for switching CW or RTTY.

Please note, that this interface will work ONLY with rigs that utilize Solid State keying, and NOT with the old "Grid Block" style of keying used on many classic old radios.

You will need to have a computer with a free DB9 serial port, and a rig with a 3.5mm mono phone plug for keying (or you can purchase adapters from Radio Shack). You'll also need software which can be downloaded from the web for free or as shareware which makes provision for keying via serial port.

NOTE: This interface is strictly for keying CW or FSK RTTY via serial port to radio. It does not receive signals. You can still receive CW or FSK RTTY signals using your standard; all mode digital interface, or purchase a receive only interface. If the only thing you wish to do is send CW using your computer and the proper software, then this is all you need.
Product is in production.

Best CW Hard Keying solution  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
The Donners CW Hard Keying Interface connects a PC (with a DB9 connector) running CW Type (freeware) to the CW KEY jack on the back of my TS-930S. I have use this setup for 9 months with great results. The interface provides optical isolation between the PC the rig.

As a result, my CW skills have improved because CW is fun again. Yes, I still use a keyer / paddle most of the time. I even used my old novice days straight key during the 1/1/2005 SKN to retain my manual sending skill.

The Donners interface is a simple, effective, low cost solution for CW hard keying.
