THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY TO PASS!
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|
|
This is, simply put, the best way to pass the test, bar none. Cost is totally reasonable, study time will be different, for different folks, but, after being a novice for 19 years, it took me all of 16 hours of studying with HTO, to pass my general class exam. I am working on the Extra, now, and it takes a great deal more effort, but this is by far, the best way to learn what you need to know, to pass the tests.

Incredible!

I have been trying halfheartedly to upgrade my General since 1976. IMHO most of the good stuff is happening in the Advanced and Extra segments, and I was never satisfied with General.
I found HamTestOnline and bought a subscription about 2 years ago, but ran out of gas...got overwhelmed...and quit.
I again decided to push on, but this time I got smart. I read the reviews here, and contacted one of the better review's authors: NN2RL to ask for tips on Strategy.
Oh boy did Robb give me tips! He taught me how to use the program in a way that tied up all of my loose ends and gave me the chance to SMOKE the test!
Here is why the program is so AWESOME ... IF (and IMHO ONLY IF) you do it NN2RL's way:
1. You can select which topics to study which are all on by default. (This is wrong and overwelms you...turn them all off but one.)
2. Use the 'Study' feature until you are scoring 100% on that section...the program gives you links to places to study...as well as you can use outside people and materials to nail the material.
3. ONLY when you have one section mastered to you turn on a 2nd. Do the same thing. At this point you can turn old sections on and off to control how much review you get.
4. When you have finished the above, start random practice tests. When you are scoring in the high 90's you are ready for the test.
5. If you want to take it a step further, like me, you can have it push you on your 'weak' areas. I kept going until I could make 100's on 'random' tests and 'weak area' tests and had 100% of the material 'learned' according to the program.
6. The program really is 'smart' and really does 'know' you and will adapt to ask you things you know less often and things you don't know more often...
7. The program also presents the information in a way that your knowledge builds as you progress and the entie subject matter comes together and makes perfect sense...so much so that when you are finished you have an entirely new awareness and perspective on Ham Radio!
8. It is fast, reliable, efficient, and effective.
Over the years I've studied for 5 pilot tests, and 3 Ham tests...and I believe the HamTestOnline is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST WAY TO LEARN, STUDY, AND PASS YOUR TEST!
Finally, the price is extremely reasonable. I could not be happier with the program and I have never given any program such an incredible recommendation!!!
73, de, Robert, WA4YZA/ AE! Thanks to HamTestOnline!

Works great!

When I decided to finally upgrade from General to Extra, I tried the ARRL manual, the old Radio Shack book, the Gordon West manual and the "free" tests online.
HamTestOnline is the only one that gave me a combination of practice tests with theory that helped me pass. Those who complained about not enough theory must have been using a much older version. When I took it, it had "breaks" that explained a piece of theory that I needed to study. It also referenced other resources to do further study, if I desired.
When the two years expired just last week, my 14 year old daughter and I discussed renewing, just so she can study for her Technician, General and Extra class license.
Highly recommend.

Great way to learn

I concur with K9BUG, HTO is an excellent way to learn. Took only 30 hours for me to master the extra class exam -- 88%! The key is repetition and focusing on the questions you miss the most. Keeps track of your progress -- learned, review, and weak. What a great program!

Passed my Extra tonight thanks to Ham Test On-Line. Works much better than books. Their teaching methodology is far better than anything else I've seen. The cost is well worth the results you achieve!

The best $50 I ever spent on the hobby!!!
35 hours spread out over a couple weeks and passed with a 94. Probably could have aced it but I zipped through the test in 10 minutes and didnt review when i was done, 'my bad' as they say. I highly recommend HAMTESTONLINE.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

I bought this right after I got my Tech ticket. I started using it and was about ready to take my test. I got a new job and moved and went months not studying. I started back up with this and 2 weeks later was ready to take the General and passed. What I like about this it keeps track of your progress and if you want will not let you move on to different information until you get what you are studying. It also shows how others are doing near you. It will email you if you haven’t been on for a week reminding you to study. It’s like my mother!!! It’s worth the subscription and it’s got a great warranty/guaranty.
