Impressive Software
|
Time owned: 6 to 12 months

I have run it on Vista and XP, and it works just fine. It takes time to learn all of the capabilites, but that is because it is so comprehensive. I am running it with a IC-718.

This is such a great program for audio decoding. I often use Winrad or Dream for homemade rx or modified analog receivers (some very old) to add IF-DSP and all other advanced features and then use other programs, such as HRD for decoding. Both programs require a lot of CPU power and two soundcards. I wish Winrad and HRD were integrated in ony one program using just one soundcard. If HRD could receive up to 20Khz (not just few khz) and able to use the full sensitivity of the soundcard would be a significant improvement for me.

Very Nice Program!

I've had HRD/DM780 on my computer for years and rarely used it except for some rig control purposes. I've been a MixW user for a long time and it always did the job for me. I recently began playing with HRD/DM780 and have really come to appreciate all that it can do and have completely switched from MixW.
The interface is great and the number of features is amazing. The only reason that I didn't give it a 4 is that I would like wo see a better/smoother integration of the the multiple programs that are included but there may be a good reason for that.
I'm really looking forward to version 5.0 to see the updates and new features that it will include.

The best ham radio suite at any price.

There's little I can say that hasn't been said in the previous 12 pages.
I have about a dozen digimode programs loaded, but still DM780 95% of the time.
Radio control is fabulous and the recent new logbook and satellite tracking are more than just eye candy.
The forums offer excellent support too. Good team of folks.
For those that haven't used this application in a while, be sure to visit and get the latest version.

Free or Not.. THE BEST

I use ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) daily and DM780 which is integrated within HRD. Without any hesitation i can easily say there is no better software. I cant believe people pay for software when they can have the best for free! Ive donated to the HRD cause and other users should too but HRD is TOTALLY free.
After a few minutes of warming up to it, you will see how easy it is to use. It sports a very nice interface for controlling the rig and DM780 works great with the digital modes. QRZ works along with it for easy logging with the built in logging program also integrated in HRD. EQSL also works with it. When you log a station, you can have the logging software send it to EQSL.cc to update and send the appropriate information. Google Earth also plays a role. You can have the logging software send the data and mark the station location onto Google Earth. You need Google Earth installed though. This software does it all and does it all very well.
Ive tried all major softwares of this type and never has a single program impressed me like Ham Radio Deluxe.

Works Great

I've been using HRD for about two years. I am using it with a ICOM IC-765. Some functions availabe on HRD are not available on the IC-765, that is because of limitations to the IC-765 rather than the HRD program.
The program is listed as FREE, but Simon has put much effort into the program, as well lots of expense. I am sure he really appreciates any donation so he can continue developement.

As a very new ham, this programme was recommended to me and I cannot praise it enough. An absolute dream to use and completely free. It has enhanced my experience of amateur radio considerably and much praise to the developers. Keep up the good work
