Hurricane Ike Hit us hard again 3 yrs after Rita... 8-12ft of water and high winds. The dang beam is still standing. and the boom guy wires have been broken for 9+years. The SWR is still good on all 3 bands. I love this antenna!

gOOD ANTENNA

TH7DX ANTENNA is a good antenna. Reason i gave it a 4/5 was due to 3 things. First the bad news, while putting the boom together the wholes didn't line up correctly so they had to be drilled again, in the same place. they were about 1/16 off. # 2 while putting the 10 meter director together my friend ww8o and I had a time getting the tubing to slide in one another., this only accured on the 10 meter director. #3 they short me to meduim sized hose clamps, oh well hard ware store to care of that.
Oh well. Other than that I would reccomend this antenna to anyone. Great antenna just alittle tricky.

Great antenna

The TH7DXS is an under-rated antenna. It delivers some amazing results with little power. I know that the bandwagon is on trapless yagis such as force12, m2 or the Steppir etc, but this antenna has some real firepower to it. On dead band conditions it takes my 450W PEP across the pond. I have always heard comments like "you are the only loud station from the states side". I am not using high power at all, but just idling my TL922 at 450W PEP into the TH7DXS.
The antenna is great and the results are great. It compares well with the other computer modeled antennas. Excellent reports and SWR is almost 1:1 on all three bands.
I know that the Steppir cult would be upset at me for claiming this antenna as a great one, but it surely is at par with the steppir based on my DX QSO's.
Would I recommend it? Yes, HIGHLY.

This antenna is installed on a 50ft tower at our marine electronics shop. My boss (SK 2-8-07) installed this antenna over 15 yrs ago. The antenna has never been taken down to be cleaned or repaired. Hurricane Rita hit our area HARD. The only thing that happened to this antenna was that she turned it from 90d degrees to due North.
150mph+ winds and she stood her ground. I got my General ticket March 6th. In the weeks following, I got 6 countries on 20m with only 100 watts and was told i was a strong station.
Bring on another herricane and i'll bet she stands proud through it.

Great Antenna

I have had the TH7DXS for many years now, and it has earned me my place on the DXCC Honor Roll...It has a low VSWR (and all over 10m) 2:1 being the higest experienced. The worst thing you will have to do is to blow the crud/rubbish out of the traps from time-to-time that can gather over the years ( but of course that goes for most trap antennas). I had the KLM KT34XA before, and this antenna is as good on performance in my humble opinion. If you want a good used beam, that's affordable to most pockets, and if you have the space you can't go wrong with this big bird..

I have the TH-7 mounted at 75'. An excellent performer, especially on 10 and 15 meters, with good F/B and solid forward gain. SWR 1.5 bandwidth ~1.2 Mhz on 10, 450 KHz on 15 and 300 KHz on 20. I am pleased with this antenna.

I had my TH7DXX up for 20 years at 70' through Michigan storms, summer and winter. It survived viscious winds, ice and lightning. She was a great performer on all bands as I am a DX hunter. I would not hesitate to use one again. I had to take it down when I moved and had a chance to inspect it. For being up 20 years it was in great shape.

GOOD ANTENNA
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months
|
IT HAS CHANGED MY OLD ANTENNA TA-33M BY MOSLEY, THAT US FOR 6 YEARS, WHICH GAVE ME VERY GOOD RESULTS, FOR THE TH7DX BY HY-GAIN. TO WEIGH THAT THE ANTENNA NOT THIS TO THE RECOMMENDED HEIGHT (ALONE THIS TO 20 FEET OF THE ROOF) AND ACHIEVED THAT THE SWR IS NOT FOR UP 2, IN ALL THE BANDS.
IN THIS SHORT TIME AND ACHIEVED TO CONTACT WITH 26 NEW COUNTRIES FOR MY, USING SINGLE 100 WATTS; INSIDE OF WHICH I CAN MENTION: S2,TR,E3,T2,9N,BD,V5,C9,9U,3X,A5,9Q,ZC4,XW,BV9, YA5T AND HL17FWC; AMONG OTHER. WHAT I FEEL VERY SATISFIED AND I SHOULD CONGRATULATE THE GENTLEMEN OF HY-GAIN FOR SO GOOD PRODUCT.
THANK YOU. HP1BYS, ELIO, 73DX.

What a great antenna!

Time owned: 3 to 6 months

My previous antenna was a battle-weary KLM KT-34XA and I was a bit hesitant at putting up this TH7. I need not have been. It performs every bit as well as the KLM KT-34XA did and I expect that it will be a lower maintenance antenna as well. I have DXCC 310+ countries and, believe it or not, my first QSO after putting up the darned thing was a new one! I sort of miss having the WARC bands though. (Tried a QSO on 18 Mhz with a tuner and it worked fine but I wouldn't make a habit of this).
