Good Job Behringer  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Have owned the DEQ-2496 for a few months now, man what a machine.

As in the previous review... good bye rack....hello 2496.

All you need is a Heil Goldline Pro, a mic pre-amp, DEQ-2496, a mixer (for headroom and the side chain stuff) and an Ibox (from W2IHY)plug it into the rig and your ready to go.

The machine has 6 boxes in one one box.

I use this setup with the 756Proll (fed into the rear), the Jupiter (fed into the rear) has all tube type (Behringer naturally) sound reinforcement stuff on it.

For less than $290.00 you cant go wrong.

By the way, seek help from an experienced audiophile for setup. This unit is not plug and play.

I hope to put basic DEQ-2496 setup insructions on the SSB-Audio website soon.

Have Fun

Convenient all-in-one box replacing individual audio rack items  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Currently selling for $299.00 through most web site distributors (Musiciansfriend.com and ZZounds.com).

Using this box I was able to eliminate the Behringer 1124P Equalizer and MDX-2200 Composer Pro (compressor/limiter) in my audio rack. I am currently using an Electrovoice RE-20 and Goldline Pro mic via a Behringer 602A mic-preamp/mixer into the DEQ2496 and from there via a W2IHY IBox isolation transformer into either my TS-950SDX or TS-870S.

For the relatively low price this box really offers a wide range of functionality that I can't get from the individual boxes I had been using. Here is a quick summary of what you get:

- Ultra high-resolution processor for all EQ, RTA and dynamic applications.

- 4 consurrently selectable EQ modules (31-band graphic EQ, 10-band parametric EQ, plus three Dynamic EQs that you find in the 1124P).

- Flexible Compressor/Expander functions with Peak Limiting.

- A built-in Pink Noise generator for EQ filter setup and alignment (really neat!).

- Unique Virtual Paragraphic EQ that allows parameteric control of graphic EQs.

- Ultra high-resolution 61 band real-time FFT Analyzer.

- Multi-functional level meters (peak/RMS, VU, and SPL meter.

- 64 user memories for complete setups and/or individual module configurations.

- Separate RTA (Real Time Analysis) mic/line input with selectable phantom power.

- Open architecture allows future software updates via MIDI download from Behringer web site.

- Employs two high performance 32/40-bit floating-point SHARC digital signal processor for ultimate sonic resolution.

The user's manual, while relatively short for such a powerful piece of equipment, gives you a full description of all the controls and enought information to set up a set of filters to your own liking and get you started.

You can download and review the user's manual at www.behringer.com.

After 3 months I will come back and give you a more complete evaluation of the unit and describe my experience using it.
