Fewer inputs than the BX1, but more output
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months
|
I had a BX1 for some time, but found that from time to time I needed more audio output. Therefore, I ordered the BX2. Although it sports only 4 inputs as opposed to the 6 in the BX1, its audio output is much greater (7W, I think). It also gives you the ability to mute any one of the 4 inputs (as well as all at once) whereas the BX1 has only the master "mute" switch.
Warning: The BX1 and BX2 are not plug-compatible! That is, most of the jacks on the BX1 are your basic phono jacks, whereas the jacks on the BX2 are 1/8" phone jacks.
Another friendly warning: If you're using your BX1/BX2 with the West Mountain Radio RigRunner boxes, be sure to plug the unit into the 5A jack and not anything lower. If you don't, sooner or later, you'll get flaky problems as the fuse in the RigRunner begins to fail over time.
Bottom line: If you run multiple radios in base or mobile mode, you NEED one of these (and preferably the SoundsSweet speaker). You'll be glad you made the investment. By the way, support is excellent on these products.
