This cable has several advantages over the "ordinary" cables which one can buy or which one receives with CAT radios. The cable and also the DB9 connectors are thoroughly shielded to avoid hash from the computer from getting into the radio. It can be ordered in lengths longer than the standard cables supplied with radios. I feel that the extra cost is well justified: if I spend a lot of money on a radio, I don't want to be stingy with the cable.
