A fine vacuum tube  Time owned: more than 12 months
I built an 1 kW input HF linear amplifier in 1989 using a pair of those excellent tubes by Eimac. They have been in use since then, with no sign of performance deterioration. The amplifier's linearity is very good (3rd order products -38 dB @ 500W output). A bit more expensive than the 4CX250, but a lot more rugged and linear tube, very good for SSB work up to 144 MHz.
