It seems to be fashionable lately to trash MFJ for producing shoddy quality products. I've only owned a few products since the 70's and never had any issues with the products that I've owned. I have a small land-mobile/marine shop and I've been revamping the benches and the high current power distribution panels from Motorola TEK 26's using Jones plugs from the Ratelco power supplies have become quite dated. The Anderson powerpoles are becomming a standard now with may pieces of equipment that I see. Pigtails now needed to be either equipped with banana terminals or powerpoles for customer's equipment. I'm an owner of several pieces of West Mountain's panels and have only praise for their products as being very well built and designed. Unfortunately, they didn't have a panel that met my bench requirements using banana and powerpoles and also work at 24V. MFJ bested them on this point and got it right. After waiting a few weeks, the units arrived. First off, the internal cables were best removed and the original,much heavier bench cables that used giant bananas was deemed to be the better choice for interfacing. Opening up the MFJ's to replace the cables was eye opening. The boards were a mess of flux and lots of solder balls/shavings not to mention several suspicious solder joints. The boards cleaned up nicely with acetone and a few joint re-heated looked much better. The factory supplied cables were replaced with the original cables with new terminals. MFJ uses screw studs that make it easy to replace their cables should you need to. Overall great idea for a service bench. Not the build quality of West Mountain or material quality, but good enough. MFJ found a niche with this product that WM seems to have ignored and the price is right. Had WM made a similar product it would have been a no brainer to buy theirs. I'm making no judgement on MFJ for being a bad product and they probably would have worked out of the box. The Q/A could have been much better though.
I'm giving this a 4 b/c this product could have been delivered with much better QC with very little extra attention. Considering the extra time involved in post production, this is unexcusable at any price point. If you need a basic distribution panel for a service bench with combination of bananas and powerpoles w/o specific voltage monitoring or fuse blown indicators, this fills the bill nicely. Job well done MFJ!

MFJ Quality?...Yes!

Meets DC power distribution needs more fully than Rigrunner. Quality made (there, I can't believe I said that about MFJ!). The included heavy duty lead is bolted firmly internally and is easy removed or modified. Price is also more competitive. Good job MFJ!

Compared to the West Mountain stuff this is the way to go. MFJ includes the power pole connectors and DC power cable that goes to your power supply. I like the idea of having the combination of binding posts and power pole connectors. They have other versions that include a meter but it's not needed. Maybe someone will make a little larger version of this type of unit and have it split between two power supplies. That way one power distribution unit is all that would be required for a multiple rig, multiple power supply senario.
