Average rating: 5.0/5

MSRP: $3000

Description: This still is the most loaded and full featured repeater
controller. It was at the time over engineered but once
understood well worth the effort to install.

While the reviews are THIN here and the product WAS the top of the line in its day, it has been surpassed by others...Link, SCOM, etc all make products that can out do the ACC RC850 in a lot of ways..BUT few will have the longevity and market share the ACCs have had (which is why LINK bought ACC in 1996). I am the ACC at Yahoogroups list owner, where over 1000 ACC owners still compare notes, etc about these models. It isnt dying and going away any time soon (In fact my RC850 will be going back to a GE MII UHF I just got back on the tower!) They cost a lot but we got our money's worth out of them...and MORE. Ed WA6AXX still lurks (I cannot say where) and I do wish he would give out more info on these products but he may be under a clause in the sale to LinkComm (I'll ask Alan and Steve about it)

I'm stunned that more reviews aren't already here, but these controllers speak for themselves-- literally. The ACC RC-850 definitely set the pace for the repeater controller market. ACC has been out of business for several years now and it's shameful to say that today's competition still can't keep up. There's little that this controller cannot do. Should you find one on the used market (eHam, Bay, QRZ, your favorite hamfest), then pick one up-- you won't be dissatisfied!

This controller was sold in the early to mid 1980s at a very high price. It still is the most popular and full featured controller. You cannot really find many for sale it seems because they are still in service being used and very popular. The current market does not seem to include all the features this one did and that is possibly why the company did so well even for only a short period of time. It was overpriced and ultimately was figured to be the reason why the compnay itself failed not the controller.
I have at least 5 of them now and they are all working great. The yahoo group still have over 400 members still the most comapred to other controller groups and users.
If you find one even on ebay in good shape with the CIB and all the options buy it you will be happy with it.
Happy hunting!
