Surprisingly Good  Time owned: more than 12 months
I bought a pair on sale in 12/03@ Radio Shack for $50, and have used these to move around the house and yard w/o losing continuity on listening to the radio. It has surprising coverage and long lasting headphone AA battery life using Kirkland AA Alkaline batteries. Ive checked antenna and grounding continuity while wearing the headphones as well.
I can see where someone who does not understand how these chord free headphones work would not care for them. Once you get the hang of their usage they come in quite handy, both phone and CW.
The chord free aspect of this gear sets you free of the vicinity of the radio to do things like go to the lavatory, fridge, put the lawnmower away, and even take out the trash while listening to the frequency of your interest. Fidelity is quite good until the batteries weaken and then things slide pretty quickly downhill. The green light letting you know you are locked gets dimmer and dimmer as the batts. get weak. Changing them out and replacing with new brings the headphone back to crisp and clear audio. I use mine with my Ten Tec gear. The headphones do not add to the background noise at all, so I think this chordless
headphone is pretty cool.

Works FB!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Just installed and tested the RCA WHP140S. This set of 900MHz headphones was purchased at a local Best Buy, but you'll find this model (and related RCA models) in various places at various prices.

The package includes a headset, AC/DC transformer, set of AAs (for the headphones), base transmitter (about the size of a USB 802.11 adapter), RCA->stereo adapter, and instruction brochure.

The headphones have a volume control, tuning control, link LED (orange when no link, green when link is active), and on/off switch. The transmitter has a tune control, power LED, and another LED whose function escapes me, as it is not mentioned in the manual. A six-foot cord from the transmitter terminates in a stereo plug (which works with my FT-817 and SG-2020 with no problem; you'll need an adapter for other rigs).

Plug the transmitter into your speaker/headphone jack, and supply power. Insert the AAs into the headphones, then turn on the headphones.

Within seconds I was able to walk around the house, upstairs and downstairs, while monitoring my favorite HF net. The manual touts coverage as out to 100 feet.

This wireless phoneset is inexpensive and readily available from many sources (cheapest i found was about $38 on-line - you may do even better). The headphones are VERY comfortable. Sound and frequency response of the phones match the needs for most amateur radio communication.

But here's the best part, and a BIG BONUS when using this particular headphone: the transmitter's power requirement is 12 volts! Yep, that's right - you can ditch the AC/DC transformer and run the transmitter from your gel cell, power supply, or DC tap on your rig! A spare DC power connector from my LDG Z-11 fit the transmitter perfectly!

I no longer have to worry about tripping over my headset cord. I'm pleased with this product, and if you can find one at a good price, I think you will be too.
