TV28-432 Another Winner  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I now have the TV28/432 again bought off Ebay,
It was purchased blitzed at a bargain price but after fitting a replacement final(3.00) into it all is ok.
It is every bit as good as it's 144mhz brother
highly recommended.

Sensitive & Overload Proof  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I bought the TV28/144 about 12 months ago from Ebay, I use it for weak signal work on 144mhz,
Stability is ok, frequency drift is about 150hz
after one hour operating from cold
after which drift is negligible, an optional crystal oven would make it rock solid

The noise figure is good, quoted at less than 1.4db
although i have not tested this i have no reason to doubt the claim.

I have worked several 4 yagi stations using JT65b
without the aid of a masthead preamplifier, and as long as the feeder losses are kept to 1db or less serious weak signal work can be carried out in my opinion without a preamplifier (keeping the overall system noise figure below 2.4db).

Strong signal handling is superb, i rate this unit highly in this respect, it will easily handle local signals at +40db (as long as they are clean of course) without overload problems.

SSB supply this transverter in kit form
and although i did not build the unit myself it looks reasonably simple to get going. I have added a 60w Mitsubishi hybrid P.A. module as the final output stage (they only need 50mw of drive to produce 60w)
It was necessary to add a 6db pad on the 144mhz output to keep to make sure the transverter does not overdrive the module as it can produce 100mw or more.

Set up this way the TV28/144 will take the low level drive from a modern H.F. transceiver (in my case -6dbm from a FT1000mp) without the need for an
intermediate stage amplifier (mmimc)
It's an ideal way to drive one of the Russian Triode valves such as the GS31 or even the GS35
to legal U.K. Limit with plenty to spare, two modules would drive a GS35 to well over a kilowatt.

Those of you unfamiliar with these transverters should take note, that there is no coax relay or switching supplied with the kit, the transverters are designed to be used as intermediate stage building blocks for transverting from H.F. to microwave bands as well as a full blown transverter for use outright.
The design is quite old (mid to late 80's)
but still very good.

If anyone has either the TV28/144 or TV28/432 for sale i would be very interested in getting a spare !
