Excellent software

I purchased the FTB7800 software after comparing the reviews for both RT System's ADMS software and G4HFQ's FTB7800.
This software is very well layed-out. You don't need a manual to use it either. Simply select the desired com port, then click Read FT7800. A pop-up follows that walks you through the few steps to perform on the FT-7800. Since these steps are identical to the cloning directions in the Yaesu manual, you don't need to refer to that manual either.
Editing is simple. The software allows shortcuts like highlighting a range of values, making a single selection, and the selection applies to the whole range. This is great if you want to change 20 channels to low power, for example, in one step.
There's also a page where you can edit all the global SET menu options. Each option shows the default, the current value and all the possible values. Again, eliminating the need to consult a manual.
I am using the RT Systems CT-29B serial-to-TTL level converter cable that terminates in a mini-DIN plug.
If you're only programming a few repeaters into your FT-7800, you don't need this or any software. If, however, you travel and want to stuff lots of repeaters in and assign them to banks, then this software is just what you need.
This was well worth the $18.50 and is highly recommended. I also purchased FTB60 and like that just as well.

Makes the 7800 usable!

Without this software I would have sold the 7800 immediately!
Great work and cheap, cheap, cheap at twice the price. I wonder if it can be sold along with the rig?

Unbeatable Support

With 1000 memories in Yaesu's FT-7800, you wouldn't want to be without FTB7800 memory management software. Bob Freeth's (G4HFQ) update notifications and unbeatable support via Yahoo Groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ftbasic) give the software excellent value. Also, a good programming cable can be obtained from rtsystemsinc.com if you don't want to prepare one yourself.

Perfect!

I downloaded the program and had a couple problems caused by my registering the wrong software program. (Yes, I can mess *anything* up :-) With both problems above Bob was *very* helpful. All his emails were timely and professional (he did a great job at not making me feel like a moron, hehe). I was amazed at the level of support offered for this $18 program.
Regarding the program... it works great! It's incredibly easy to use. One can just work through all of the tabs at the top of the program and customize every setting on the radio. Once it's installed correctly it works flawlessly. The FT-7800 is a pretty complex radio with lots of features. The software does a great job and helping you understand and manage all these features without even having to open the "help" file.
I'd highly recommend this over the ADMS software, both for the support you're getting with this product and the ease of use of the program itself.

As a old new ham from the 60's coming back into the fold, the world of VHF repeaters was foreign to me. It didn't take me long to see the tedium involved into programming my rig. Bob's software made life with my 7800 good again.
It's a pleasure to use and works consistently.
Highly recommend this if you have a 7800

Fabulous

I have been using FTB7800 since it was introduced. I recently bought a second FT-7800 rig, so I decided to download the latest version of Bob's software. It's even better than before, he's tweeked this program to the point of perfection. Everything works as it should, it's intuitive and easy to use, even without reading the instructions. But there are time saving features that may not be too obvious, so reading the manual is worthwhile for the insight that it provides. This is an EXCELLENT bargain for US $18.50, it's worth every cent of its price, even if you program the rig only once. This software is a great addition to a fine rig, thanks Bob.

For £10 you really can't go wrong here, it makes programming the FT-7800 an absolute doddle an appears to be bug free! I use an Icom interface I've re-wired for my VX-2 with a 3.5 stereo to a 6 pin mini-Din adaptor. The program can also import csv file from other programas such as VX2 commander so you only need have 1 master memory csv file for numerous rigs (I also use an FT-8900 for which a verison is also availabe)
If you aren't into constrution see http://g4zlp.co.uk/CATpage.htm for range of inexpensive interfaces and remember, Yaesu mobiles, VX handhelds and Icom seem to use the same interface, it's just the connectors that vary.

The FTB7800 software is extremely painless to use. It's the only way to program a radio with this many memories and a real bargain at US$18.50!
