Dependable little amp for UHF

Time owned: 6 to 12 months

I picked up a Toptek PA-65U together with an Icom IC-302 from a ham in Maine last year on eBay. This was my reintroduction to 70cm SSB/CW weak signal work. The PA-65U as I received it provides 65W out for 3W in at 432MHz. I have no documentation so I can't say what kind of preamp circuit the amp has, but I do know that it does work. I've had some very good success with the old Icom portable and this amp despite a rather limited antenna. All in all I'm quite satisied with the PA-65U and only an upgrade of the 70cm station made me consider parting with it.
