Great Software at reasonable price
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months
|
|
I tried for weeks on end trying to get this software to work with my second hand 857. Tried every conceivable COM port/speed combination and still nothing. Several emails back and forth between myself and the author, referencing the yahoo FT857 group and still no luck. Finally gave in to sending the unit back to factory for out of warranty repairs. Sure enough the fuse on the CAT circuit was bad, and when the unit was returned I plugged it in to the FTBasic program, and VIOLA, it worked like a champ. I kept Bob informed of my progress and he answered every email quickly and courteously. Sometimes, you just have to admit that something else might be the cause of your problems - and hardware failures are not to be ruled out. Super program.

Great product, better service

Use Bob's program for FT-857D programming. When I fired up two new computers, neither would work. An email to Bob was answered in 5 minutes despite the 6 hour time difference. He gave me two links for update drivers and the problem was solved. Which was better, the advice or the service??? Hard to tell, both were TOP NOTCH. AAA+++

Great Software, Great Person!

Used to have the FT897D, and got another FT7800 for back up/spare 2m/70cm. Bob is a good, honest person to deal with and , always answers questions right away. The software works well and is priced well. I think it's worth more than he charges.

Why would you buy G4HFQ software?
|
Time owned: more than 12 months
|
I want to issue a formal complaint about Bob Freeth's software. I own (or use)three of his products, including FTBasicMMO.
My experience in dealing with Bob's software and G4HFQ's support specifically is:
1) The software is excellent and works as advertised.
2) The software is updated frequently.
3) G4HFQ participates in users groups for suggestions and to offer assistance.
4) He is professional, extremely helpful, and a pleasure to deal with.
My last request was to retrieve the registration key for FTBasicMMO. Despite the several hour time difference and hour of the day, I received a response almost immediately. Terrible customer service.
So, don't by his stuff unless you want a very satisfactory experience.

Excellent Product and Support

Purchased this in adition to the ADMS4B software. I am not sure which I like the best. Both work exceptionally well. But in all honesty, FTBasic wins in the price vs performance arena.
Bob has a quailty product and the support is great...

All in all it works really well. I no longer own an 897, but when I had it it made programming the radio a lot quicker. Good product, nothing bad to say about it. Highly recommended!

I use FTBasicMMO with my Yaesu 857D connected to my PC with TTL2USB’s CT-2 interface box and cables. This combination is a great way to program this radio. A flawless setup.

exceptional customer service

This is the first software of this type that I have used. Couldn't get my ft-897 to connect and posted a question on the ftbasic yahoo group. Bob, the author of the software emailed me personally, and then we chatted via skype for over half an hour while he talked me through the possible sources of the problem, as well as finding a solution.
The software works as promised and I have to say that my experience with Bob and his care and attention to my problem is absolutely second to none.

Great tech support / A+++ software

I bought the ttl2usb hardware recently to connect a VX-7R HT. Although I could upload *.csv files onto HT, I don't get the repeaters shift and other settings. I had to enter them manually.
With my purchase, I also got the CAT 62 cable for FT857. I bought the FTBasicMMO software and last night I was having a nightmare in trying to make the communication between the 857 and the software. I gave up and decided to write Bob my frustrations encountered. My email was written at midnight. I got a reply when I walked up this morning... he was telling me something about the ttl2usb jumper...the 3 wire vs. 2 wire position jumper switch. Well, that was it...this ttl thing has a jumper inside. In the default position, made my HT connect but I had to manually set it on one pin to make the 857 talk to the software.
My compliments to Bob for keeping an eye on his email at all times!!!!!
I know I will be able to figure out the software in a breeze...I hope to find CSV files for the Metropolitan area Washington, DC repeaters.

Great for FT-847!
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

I have used this software from the earliest version to the most recent. It has always done a great job of managing the memories, and integrates well with the FTBCat control program. As expected, there have been a couple of oddities over the years as it has evolved. Bob was quick to either fix the software, or more often explain something which I didn't understand.
