Description: Not only another contest software : A real tool to win !
Win-Test is the new contest software written by Olivier F5MZN, the author of Editest (a reference in French contests logging software, now deprecated), and of DXNet, an Open Source DX Cluster system. All major international and many other contests are supported. Its DOS-style QSO window navigation capability in this GUI application will ease your job during the pile-ups !

Great software & support

Time owned: 3 to 6 months

I have been using this software since Nov 2005 and i really liked it very much, I use it for my daily CW operation and for all my contests need, I running it now in three PC's and never had a major problem with it. the good thing about it that it is getting bigger and more feature being added to it from time to time. they are saying in V3 it will support digital contests also. I recommend this for every contest station looking for a real software.

Just downloaded the trial version, looks great! But, with out being able to use it for the ARRL Sweepstakes, I can't use it. Maybe in the future!

Exceeds expectations!

I have used CT in contests for years and have been totally satisfied. Now that I am using Win-test, I realize what I have been missing. This program has many available windows that provide useful information and will help add to the contest scores.
The radio interfaced band window shows packet cluster spots and makes QSYing a matter of a clicking your mouse. In fact, although I have always operated unassisted, I will enter the next contest in the assisted category in order to use this really neat feature!
This is a very stable program that is intuitive to use. It provides the look of CT for the logging plus a lot of other desirable features. This has to be the biggest bargain in software that a contester can find.

1ST IMPLEMENTED SO2R SOFTWARE FOR WINDOWS
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

I was dedicated to N6TR. But since the time and technology is going forward I was looking a so2r windows program which would really have two radio support and would not have uselles crap in some windows. I can say I have seen and worked with almost all popular windows contest software but none is like WIN-TEST.
I like it because ;
- it runs very fast on small laptop (and desktop) computers
- it is simple to use it, really just plug and play
- it has the best so2r feautures on the market and they are what I have been looking for a long time and have spend many long hours to get additional com ports to DOS like programs with laptop!
- It does not have any useless craps or windows, it only have what a serious contester really need during the contest.
And so on.
I downloaded a free demo version from win test homepage and buy it after playing with program for 3 hours. I said I have to have it!
Just great that we Europeans have such good programers!
Thank you for a great program!

Win-test a contest winner !

WIN-TEST, a WINdows TEST software but also a conTEST WINner !!
As the advertising says, "not only another Windows contest software" ! It's in fact a real new tool for contest winners !
Made by top contesters who are also top programmers, Win-Test is written in C++, so it's very fast even on small computers, unlike several other similar software. Laptops used for contests and portable operation are welcome !
It has a lot of nice features and clever designed functions which can't be found on other softwares.
It has everything you need, with no rings and bells which are making software difficult to setup and to use.
The SO2R functions are very innovating and are making live easier for this difficult "game" !
WT supports all hardwares for packet and radio interfacing as well as all major contests on HF also on VHF.
Try it and you will love it ! It's a bargain for the price !
Win-test is my favorite contest logging tool on HF and VHF and i can only recommend it.

Easy to set up and user friendly

I used Win-Test in many international contests such as ARRL DX, CQ WW, WPX and IARU HF as well as in VHF and UHF contests. Both CW and SSB modes, categories from SO2R, SO1R, M/S, M/2 and M/M, from home and DX side (6W1RY, 6W1RW, TM2Y), with radios from all 3 major manufacturers. Several tens of thousands of Qs were logged with ease and switching from old DOS CT pioneer to WT was a breeze.
Its many features will surprise a lot of operators and you can tailor mosts windows to your taste, mainly using the mouse right button.
The WT reflector almost works as a hot line with very short reaction time (less than a day) and new contests are often added.
A contest sofware made by active contesters that test it the hard way from the DX side of the pile up (FY5KE).

A great software

I moved to Win-Test (WT) after a couple of years using CT for HF contesting and Editest for V/UHF ones. This is really a serious tool to perform well in contests, almost as important as your transceiver or antenna.
Among the key elements, WT is extremely stable depite the log size (tried in M/S, M/2 configuration), networking is very easy, it can interface with most popular rigs and the CW "type ahead" feature works very well.
The new DXpedition mode also works well. I used it from 5V7C with no problem and this is now on the checklist for future DX trips.
The support team is very reactive to add new features upon requests.
As a summary, this is not another logging software with contesting support, this is a no compromise dedicated logging software for Windows. These are a few bucks well invested.

Great Program

Have used the program for over a year in most major contests and it has been a pleasure to use. It has lots of windows that you setup to your liking and the visual impact is very nice.I like the world map and the ablity to view the grey line. The program is now in English and most questions on how the program runs or how to setup it up can be found on http://www.f5mzn.org/pipermail/support/ .
You can download the program for a free demonstration. Once you have registered the program, you have to get a new code only when you change computers. The new code is generated by a robot so you get the information in an instant. Once registered, any call sign can be used. You do not have to go through the hassle of getting a new code if you change the call sign and then have to change ini.files like Writelog.

Nice program which I'm sure will be a big favourite among contest operators, not that I'm a serious contest operator, but I do like taking part. I have tried Winlog and N1MM logger and found them to be a bit quirky to set up. I was quickly able to have Win-Test up and running and it looks very smooth and easy to use. If you want to use DX Cluster via Telnet, download wtDXTelnet and away you go. The logging interface is like CT but has many other useful features in a nice modern format. The Band Map is nice but I would like some different colours for the worked stations etc(Colour is a bit weak). There is no option anywhere to change colours on any of the screens, but that is only a minor issue. I am still working on getting the DVK running but have sorted all the other stuff out. I will be using it in the Oceania DX SSB Contest in October so will give it a good run then. When you register you get a key which is only good for the PC you are using and have to get a different key if you intend to use it on another PC which is a bit of a nuisance. Overall I think it is an excellent program which will only get better and is very simple to set up and use. Have fun. Registered it first day I tried it.
