Champions League
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

I met an Acom amplifier first on the club station OA4O, where I had the opportunity to work during vacation in Perú in April, Mai and June this year, there was an ACOM 2000. It was really nice and easy to work with. Then I've seen the many good reviews here in eham and finally:
I got mine (ACOM 1010) last week, used -30% off list price, 2007 built.
It's really playing in the champions league compared to the Ameritron AL-811X (3x811).
Ease of use: TRI-tune, easy fine-tune during SSB-transmission possible after qsy of some kcs, LEDs display PEP and "alerts" which attract you looking at, what a contrast to the analogue meters. And one more reason buying this amplifier: Better suitable for digital modes (continuous output time and transmitter power reduction. And it's very quiet (airflow and relay).
I should add: I wasn't looking for more power.although it offers some more than my older amplifier.
I enjoy that piece and don't regret the expense hi hi Being fair, the price was 25 resp. 50% (250 to 400 Euro) more than a new Ameritron with 3/4 x 811s.

Hello dear collegues; i am using this amplifier from 6 months, after AL-811, and the impression is more than positive. I agree with the rewies of the other hams and for the power output the report from F4PDT is perfect.
You will be very happy with it!

FANTASTIC P.AMPLIFIER

Folks, I am ham radio for about 15 years now, and I am so glad and happy to own this fine amp.I have been using this amplifier for about 1 month here in my shack, but I have been using it for more than a year at my friendīs home. Fantastic amp. The Fan is very quiet. Soft amp only 18 kgs - soft if you compare with other amps. 4CX800A tube is driven with 80 watts for 800 watts output. High build quality in this linear amplifier. But here in Brazil, this amp is really hard to find one. Who has one of it..they donīt sell for anything. You wonīt be disapointed with it.

very nice linear

hello with all
I have this amplifier since 1 month, it is very good amplifying, with 50W it leaves 500/550W, with 60W/600/700W, and with 70W 750/800W.
The power is the same one on all the bands. the signal is clean, the amplifier does not heat, the ventilator does not make noise, the adjustment is simple in less than 10 seconds regulated it to you.
has soon on the air

This my first HF linear and therefore I spent some time examining what was out there before committing my hard earned cash. The tune up is absolutely as described 5 seconds at worst, normally a couple of seconds and you are done.
Elegant to look at, clean and sits perfectly with my IC7400.
Down sides? Only one I can think of! Switching antennas can only be done with power on - the solution? Fit your main antenna to Ant1 - the default setting or run it all the time ;-)
The buying experience, truly perfect. Ron at Vine Antennas (www.vinecom.co.uk) made this a superb experience. Despite arriving late (I said 5pm, and actually arrived after 5:30pm, there was no rush to "make the sale". A welcome coffee and demonstration of the equipment and how to use was given with a pleasure followed by a general chat where advice on other aspects of radio was given. A true gent.
Store rating 10/10! - buy with confidence.
73's all,
Peter

Too good to be true!

Got my unit from Vinecom UK. Ron's kindness and low prices are unbeatable and I highly recommend the guys in England. Shipping was almost flashy and customer care is great!
My first impressions about the little 1010 are really positive; with ACOM you're in another planet. The construction is really rugged and components are first-class.
The single GU74b is driven with 70W for a fully linear 700W, which is far over the legal power in Italy (500W). And it's just enough to have that punch you need to succeed in crowded pile-ups or to be "one of the strongest stations" on a clear band. With 500W I just worked TI9KK, on a terrible european mess. This is what I was looking for, indeed.
The feature I really love is the TRI-tune system: with the help of three lights you can tune almost everything in 5-10 seconds, depending on practice. This is really helpful for contest and sudden open-band changes.
It is very quiet; the fan is effective and it never heats up. The thing I love most is the design!
It is an excellent state-of-the-art amplifier with all the bells and whistles you should need; it is ok for an entry level or for an experienced and mature operator who wants power without breaking the bank account. It is lightweight (18 Kg is really good for portable/DXped purposes) and solid and can fit almost in every shack.
Highly recommended!

Great amp, great service from Vine Antennas
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

I have been using the ACOM 1010 amp for about 2 years - Excellent results, tuning aid is very useful for quick band changes, tuning repeatability is excellent and the tube remains cool even after a lengthy RTTY QSO.
Yes, the fan is a bit noisy but Vine Antennas solved the problem on their units. I mailed them for details and within a few minutes (!) I got a detailed description with pictures, etc. This is unprecedented customer service! Mni tnx, Ron!

Great amp

I've had my Acom 1010 for about a month now. I bought it to go with my second (compact) station consisting of this amp and an IC7000. I have dreams of some high power portable operation. It has been great so far. They must have done something about the noisey fan. Mine is quiet. Very high build quality in this amp. Nothing to complain about at all. K7UA
