Nice Set.....  Time owned: more than 12 months
Had mine for about 2 years now, very nice receiver, hears much more than my FT100D on VHF/UHF. Lots of features, DTMF mic, mine came with a yaesu seperation kit all for Ģ179.

The only problem has been that last week the set lost all of the memories, nothing had changed just switched on there was a beep and then the radio reset itself to factory setting.

Not too happy as lost all my faves!

Just a fine mobile rig  Time owned: more than 12 months
I own now my FT-7800E (European Version) for 2 years. In Austria we have a lot of UHF-Repeaters, so this Duobander was the right choice for mobile use. For programming I use the ADMS-2K, without any problems.

Itīs not a real duobander, you cannot watch both bands at the same time. You must switch to one band, but thatīs no disadvantage for mobile use. But of course you can do memory-scan for both bands in one pass.
Normally I transmit with 20 Watts, so the rig only gets hand-warm.

My rig never had any faults and I am very satisfied with itīs possibilities and capability.

Just what I wanted.  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I gave this a 5 because it met my expectations exactly (and more). V/UHF, up to 50 watts out, memory operation, separable control head, small size, dual receive not required.

The "and more" is the Hypermemories. These really are a real useful feature and allow me to completely reconfigure the radio dependent upon my preferred configurations.

Got my 7800 from Moonraker in UK, at a local Rally, who provide a great service. Small downside with the radio is the OEM power connector, almost impossible to source in the UK, especially if you want to sometimes remove the rig to use somewhere else - But I fitted mine with Powerpoles now, so no more problems.

I use FTB7800 to manage memories; not absolutely necessary, but I find it useful as I also use it to interchange memory configurations with my FT-60 handy.

All in all, the FT-7800 does what it says on the box - and once you understand how the Hypermemories work - it actually does more than you expected.

Good value  Time owned: more than 12 months
I have my 7800 installed in my 08 Prius and it works very well. Programming needs a little study
but it has a good receiver and power out is more than adequate. The broad range tuning for receiving public service freqs up to 900 MHz.
Worth the investment.

Nice 7800  Time owned: more than 12 months
One of the best radios Yaesu made for V/Uhf.
The panel is generous with all the info we need, the mic has DTMF and light, several programable keys, a good detache with the mic plug on the front panel. Good modulation and nice receive.

good value for the money  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I bought my first one to build an echo link station. This works really well, the FT-7800e does a very good job. I bought a second one for my car. It is easy to handle, has a good user interface which is important for mobile usage. It is one of the cheapest mobile doubanders on the market and its absolutely worth the money.

At a high gain yagi antenna the selectivity is not good enough for 12,5 kHz channel interval. But for mobile usage, what the FT-7800e is made for, its the best rig I have used.

the best rig to use in mobile  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
i have buyed my 7800e a month ago in 2nd. hand to put in my car.
so far, i like it, very easy to program, to handle and have a very good receive sensibility. the modulation is very good and have the ptt connected directly to the front panel to make the install in the car very easy. i have the body inside the glove compartment and the control panel in the front of my syght. i'll give it a 5!!!

Nice cheap radio  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I was after a cheap 2 Metre FM radio and I ended up buying this great little dual bander. It is very simple to use and I was soon testing it on air.

After a few contacts everyone commented on how natural my audio sounded. I was also impressed by how good everyone else sounded.

Seeing as I just parted with my Yaesu 100D I was expecting to be a little dissapointed by down grading to a budget rig but that is not the case.

Im happy, nice one Yaesu.

Value for money  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Fantastic little radio, i have had no problems programing it, the rx audio is crystal clear as is the tx audio. This radio is not full of BELLS AND WHISTLES,it is a good mobile radio easy to use.i live very close to (2) comms mast loaded up with all the usual PUBLIC SERVICE ANNTENNA'S and i get no breakthrough whatsoever. In all the ft7800 is a good value for money basic 2/70 radio. Well done YAESU..
