Great useful tool!  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
This is just a little metal box with a rod across the inside, you put your roll of solder on the rod, thread the end of the solder out a hole in the front, and solder away! No more unwinding solder! When you're done, you can re-wind the solder you've pulled out and bend the tip around the hole so it stays put, ready for next time. There's room for a 1-lb roll of Kester with some room on the side for one of those smaller rolls of silver solder too. It's probably really easy to build something like this, but Weller does such a good job of making these gizzies and they can't possibly cost much.
