The old "all terrain" receiver  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The old RF-2800 is the perfect balance between communications receiver and home portable radio. It provides you with a direct digital frequency counter, a double converter receiver, portable capacity, large speaker if you want a clear and good tone listening, BFO for CW / SSB signals (yes, it drifts a bit, but is tolerable for a 70' portable receiver). Strong stations listening is a pleasure but it also gives you the posibility to tune weak transmissions. It's not a communications receiver, but is better than many little pll synthesized receivers. All terrain reliable receiver.
